This is crazy.

My other half came back from Ireland airport the other day where they made everyone remove shoes and generally were VERY strick searching people as a couple of weeks before they'd let a load of people through with concealed weapons.

This is fine in my book - but to spend extra resources doing this just seems like madness to me - http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=1944531&page=1

I would assume that it would be the plastic or specific materials used to produce DVDs that they can smell.

hmmm, they pirates will have to cover their dvds with something so that they arnt detected. Coke or heroin perhaps!

Or just transfer them online.

I noticed in that article they mention Mission Impossible 3 as a movie they caught people trying to record in the cinema after some staff training.

Good luck on that one as the employees are some of the worst offenders...

BTW. I have already seen MI3 on my home system.. For evaluation purposes of course. :taped:

I gave up watching pirated films, I've become far too much of a quality snob. I know some copies are unbelievably good, but I still would rather wait nowadays for surround sound etc.

If you're into that this site is very good and rates movies based on audio/picture/overall quality - http://www.vcdquality.com/

Cinema is an expensive affair nowadays. Up to 20 quid for two of you by the time you've bought your popcorn and jumbo coke etc.

That'd buy you a half decent meal out.

Absolutely, but I don't think a pirated DVD would cause much of a terror threat.

Are you kidding?!? Have you not seen....

FACT (federation against copyright theft) & their advert with the fat red bloke working in a smithies or something, with the background voice saying

"Piracy funds organised crime & terrorism"

I'm like you though, I wont watch pirated films as generally they're crap quality & if I'm going to buy a film, I'd rather wait a few weeks more & get a decent picture, case etc for a few quid more
