JohnA
does a decat improve performance by much ? On some turbos yes, if their wastegate is undersized and they are forced to run more boost. On n/a don't expect much more power, just more noise

Dave
i have the centre cat out and didnt notice any performance or sound increase just brought a chris wilson 1st cat bypass he reckons 10-15bhp which is ok by me and the sound is improved as well spoke to a few guys with n/a s on here and they say there is a definate performance increase
Rob
My NA definitely feels a little bit less urgent when the centre cat is back in for it's MOT. I'd have to get it dyno'd before and after for a true picture.

Guest Connie Paa
I'm putting my de-cats on my RZ-S as soon as i raise it up enough some they don't get BATTERED on the crap roads here:mad: Nice pipes, like;) Anyway, i can't wait as i've read loads on here and people say it's a great mod for the car.Especially the Turbo models:p I've heard a few N/A's with the cats out though and they sound totally crazy:ecstatic: i'm sure it'll give a slight increase in performance as well,so look forward to that, mate:respekt:
JohnA
Loads more noise on a NA, will be going single soon will let you know..... Most people fall for the usual 'gotcha' of confusing noise and vibration for more power. It ain't so, although the brain insists otherwise. Try an accelerometer if you want to know the truth. Sucking noises from 'performance' filters and rasping noises from 'free-flowing' exhausts do little for outright performance. If you were to gain 15bhp from such 'mods' then you'd *certainly* see better figures with an accelerometer. It's usually gains of a handful of bhp though (if any at all). ....Now a turbo conversion is something completely different!
H7ERO
on the n/a im not expecting to get any significant power out of anything but with a decat do you get better throttle response? as the soops isnt the most responsive beast throttle wise! (i know this has a lot to do with the throttle system) any thoughts experiences?
Max Headroom
I have a NA Auto and I do find low down revs it is slow to pick up, but at around 40MPH and about 3000 revs the pick up is more significant. At the moment I have both cats in and stock exhaust and changing to 2nd decat and RSR exhaust in the near future
Chris Wilson
it's the only mod that gives a worthwhile power increase, at a reasonable cost, unless you want to go down the very rocky road of NOS injection, which I DO NOT advise...
SupraStar 3000
So Chris, How many extra horses do you think your pipes will give me on my NA
Chris Wilson
10 to 15 seems the norm, with a decent cat back exhaust as well.
