Maybe time to buy

I pay £670 for a modified import, a UK would cost only £500. Either quote is ridiculously cheap for a 400bhp car - especially when you compare it to the quotes for RX7's, Skyline, etc.

Like I said, usually its more, totally depends on your insurance circumstances. This guy hasnt mentioned age/details so we cant offer any specific advice :)

If youre a young guy with low no claims etc you're probably going to get fleeced on a JDM car no matter what it is. If you're older with a better record then as you say the prices arnt as bad.

Also a 12yr old car that`s been out and about on UK roads for 100k means

---> RUST :(

that`s all i`d be worried about.

well said, check out the underside of some uk spec cars, the uk's harsher environment certainly can take it's toll. My 10 year old j-spec = no rust at all underneath (but now it's in the UK - doh, but at least it has a head start).

oooh touchy subject so it seems, i'll keep out of it. However, I am not claiming all uk cars are rusty underneath, but we do live in a salty wet environment that seems to take it's toll on cars, possibly more so than the uk cars - but judge each car on it's own merit, don't get overly hung up on where it came from!

Guys, aren't we over this yet? They are all Supras! Personally I try not to take anything said on this site as personally as some seem to...

i always say, a clean car is a clean car regardless of year, scrap comes from japan too just as much as ud see in the uk, but chances are u will find a very very clean 93 low enough mileage jspec whereas u prob wudnt with a tt uk spec i think u will agree

Its not a personal thing at all its just a completely misleading thing. I'm fortunate enough to be in the position to judge what its like to import a car and own a UK registered one.

I'd be saying the same thing if it was reversed! http://scottwax.com/rice/videos/smilies/eek3run.gif

Totally agree, considering the choice there is probably a few thousand times more you've gotta be a mug to think otherwise! ... but that doesnt mean to say that there arnt well looked after low mileage UK cars either does it :)

agreed you can get complete dogs from japan then again you can get some mint cars....same with uk's.. mint & dogs, simple. I had an fto import which was a load of sh*ite, riddling with rust underneath an engine started misfiring after 2 months and as for the weather in japan, yes it DOES snow an rain over there, Im not quite sure were all the talks of them having great weather comes from....if you want an example of a mint low m. uk spec take a look at my garage:tongue:

(just thought id give my pennies worth:D )
