Supragal
My dentist said I probably wouldn't get them as I didn't have them when I was 22. A fortnight later they started coming through. Yay. Still not fully through now, how long does it take?!?!
JohnA
I think i've missed the boat on those teeth. Wisdom too, obviously...
Faye
Got my first one at 18, second one when I was 21. The first one got pulled out at 24 and I'm just starting work on the third tooth at 26. They can't even see number 4 on the xrays so god knows what I've done with that! Hope it feels better soon Burt.
Charlotte
I had one of the top ones taken out at the dentist and it was fine, don't worry - just a slight pulling sensation. The other three are being taken out at the hospital cause the bottom ones can cause nerve damage apparently. I've got my first appointment on Friday and i'm quite scared. I hate hospitals, especially having to be put to sleep and wearing one of those stupid does up at the back but doesn't do up fully and doesn't cover anything gowns. Rob
Evolutionary question.... WHY??? What's the point if nearly everyone has to have them pulled?
Supragal
Evolutionary question.... WHY??? What's the point if nearly everyone has to have them pulled? I suspect at one point they did always fit.. and if not and they pushed a few teeth out of line no-one cared... maybe?
AntD
Evolutionary question.... WHY??? What's the point if nearly everyone has to have them pulled? Good question.Thats probably why some of us don't develop wisdom teeth...EVOLUTION
Charlotte
I suspect at one point they did always fit.. and if not and they pushed a few teeth out of line no-one cared... maybe? I think that pretty much sums it up! As far as i've been told (and this was probably to shut me up) it has to be pretty desperate for them to remove them and only if they are impacted(?) or causing discomfort. I don't mind about the wonky teeth thing, i think crooked teeth are quite alluring in a strange way (only some types though). I don't understand why some people get them and some people don't? Jake
I asked my dentist about wisdom teeth and whether I can assume I wouldn't be getting any. If you haven't got them by my age (40) you surely aren't going to get them, right? I was quite surprised when he told me I already had them all. Gawd knows when that happened. Class One
My dentist said I probably wouldn't get them as I didn't have them when I was 22. A fortnight later they started coming through. Yay. Still not fully through now, how long does it take?!?! I don't think there's a hard and fast answer. I got my 1st one at 21 and my third at 25. But that's it. I'm 38 now and i've still only got 3. Jake
Evolutionary question.... WHY??? What's the point if nearly everyone has to have them pulled? I guess things that happen to the body after you have successfully bred aren't affected by evolution. At what age do people usually get their wisdom teeth? Didn't life expectancy used to be like 32 or something?
how_supra
Well I definately don't have any wisdom teeth - thank god. I still have 99% of my baby teeth. Apparently that's quite common.

how_supra
what? really? and your big ones never grew behind them? wow! Yep really, I've had x-rays and the lot. So the top front four teeth are adult ones and three at the bottom in the front. Just don't mention the tooth fairy, makes me bitter.
