Make sure the headlamp washers work :p

Seriously tho' - welcome aboard. Manual or Auto? Always check for signs of accident damage, look at paintwork, shut gaps etc.

Engine, gearboxes are pretty bombproof - manuals can be a bit noisy and clunky when cold.

Make sure all the electrics work and also the heater and air conditioning.

Also, service history is a must.

Have fun:)

A couple of things off the top of my head,

Intercooler condition (left front bumper duct if facing the car) not too much of a deal on a standard car especially with autumn / winter coming but would be wise to budget the £500 for the spring if you've modding in mind.

Pipework in front of rad (power steering) for corrosion (it can leak)

look closely at the glass headlights and through to the reflective insides. They can be prone at this age to leaking, but at this time of the year it probably won't show, however you should be able to see the reflective coating coming away on those that are no longer 100% sealed. They can get quite a bit of condensation in them and are i think +£300 for the pair new.

BTW these are just little Supra specific things, i'm ignoring all the general stuff, like start from cold whilst checking exhaust etc etc etc.....................

And another

UK's have a diff cooler mounted in the vent behind the drivers door and in front of the rear wheel. My old car's cooler was in good nick but the pipe work joining it to the diff was incased in mud etc due to its location. You will not be able to inspect this area directly as it requires removing the rear wheel and removing a plastic cover, but you could look closely around where the pipes exit towards the diff for signs of leaking fluid.

Check for wear/condition of seats and steering wheel, and compare with stated mileage. Check the engine bay is nice and clean.

Go for a ride in it, check active spolier works (green light comes on). Check the heated seats heat and move with the buttons :D as well as the rest of the electronics.

nah there's more to it than that...

a) switch on heated seats

b) wait a short while

c) check you haven't pissed yourself

If you answered No to part C then that strange feeling must mean that the heated seats do work. :D

also check the tyres very closely, on the fronts make sure you turn the wheel full lock to check the inner edge and on the rears feel right over to the inner edge. If the tracking or alignment is out just a bit it can shag a set of tyres in a few thousand miles.

I think everybody covered the rest really. Worth checking the rear panels for accident repair as the Supra can swing its tail around a bit.

And we dont seem to have the same auto vs manual arguments, the manual owners think they have the best as they havent driven the auto, and the auto owners think they have the best all round option so generally dont mind. Having owned both I would say theres very little difference between them, both are exceptional gearboxes.
