jaymdee
I need a new air filter (for the stock box) and am unsure whether it's worth getting an aftermarket one or not. Can anyone recommend a TRD or Blitz over the normal Toyota one? Also, anyone got one which can be sent out ASAP? cheers J
JohnA
Get a paper filter if you value your engine. Even one from the Motorfactors will be better than any of the 'high-flow' panels. Change it every year and flow will be excellent, without risking dust gritting away your compressor wheels, valves, piston rings and bores. jaymdee
Cheers John, I do have an apexi cone, but took it off ages ago (only had it fitted for a week) as I felt the standard was much better pick up and obviously better filtration. just wondering about the replacement panel filters. Probably just get one from Toyota (how much are they) J
toyotasuprauk
I think the standard Toyota ones are about £27 ish?
toyotasuprauk
Also the motorfactor ones, which look the same to me are about £19.
JohnA
I paid £17 for mine I think...
edd_t
are they easy to fit?
Nic
are they easy to fit? Just pop the 2 clips holding the lid of the airbox, remove old filter replace with new, 1 minute job.

toyotasuprauk
Like Nic said very easy to fit! Possibly the easiest thing on the whole car.

Homer
TRD panel filter. Where from and how much? K&N seemed rather pricey, £60 or more I think
DamanC
I have an HKS pannel filter
ivan
I replaced mine with a K&N recently at about £65. Wash and re-oil - no more £26 per year for me... And it seems to me that the car is more responsive - it's certainly improved the intake noise.
hadyn
You only have to wash and re-oil the k&n panel at 50k miles or if its extremely dirty.
JohnA
Mine was black after 15K miles, washed it and after the second washing it looked perforated like a porn star's virginity. Got a picture of it on my website, backlit. A joke. I felt really stupid that I had allowed my engine to breathe through this 'performance' junk. Never again. jaymdee
Well, Ordered from local parts place (£21), installed today. Got a shock when I removed the old one, as it appears to have been eaten by small rodent!! pic attached J
JohnA
change it every year or two, and you'll have maximum filtration combined with maximum airflow. Protection from the engine bay heat as a bonus.
Todd
Bought a TOMS one from Nic on here and well chuffed, went from a standard to a HKS induction, lasted a week and ordered the TOMS from the man and been smiling ever since:D
