V160/v161

Ya it seems the ratio's are the only difference??? but since the VVTi engines are weaker than the non-VVTi, i thought that there could be a possibility of some changes in the gearbox which may make it weaker over the V160.

WTF?

The VVTi is more powerful as stock (more torque). Your statement makes no sense to me.

The V161 is a change of ratio's for the better IMO as they lengthen 1-4, 5th is the same and 6th is slightly shorter for quicker acceleration.

Same bottom end ...same head bar the inlet VVTi side of things! How dose that make it weaker ?

I assumed you were talking difference between N/A six speed and twin turbo six speed boxes? I wouldn't assume that the N/A six speed box had the same torque handling ability as the turbo box. If you can get to the right person at Getrag you should be able to get a definitive answer. I'd like to know myself. If you find the name my friend speaks fluent technical German.

But Chris isnt it possible that the later NA's and the VVTi's use the same V161 gearbox, perhaps the rear end is different between the two
