Swampy442
I’ve got basically a complete engine minus cams and sump sat in boxes in my unit, crank and rods good, pistons shot and bore damage due to detonation. I planned to get round to it at some time but likelihood is I won’t. What would it be worth?
Mattlaw
Due you think the damage to the block could be bored out?
Swampy442
Yes, a machine shop will be able to fix it I reckon

bradleyh_15
Probably £500 due to its current condition. Would probably be better off selling the head separately or having the work done with oversized pistons then selling it
trinitom
pm me if you thinking in selling the head on it self.

I'm not clued up on the demand for sumps so it could be dependent on that but I'd say around £2k with £1k to put it right if you really wanted to? mattdavies
A friend sold a project 2JZ GTE engine on ebay a year or so ago and it went for £1k. I would say its worth about that really, maybe £1.5k as you can tell them exactly what is wrong with it whereas my friends had limited information about it. bradleyh_15
To me it’s a big risk splashing out 1.5k on something that’s an unknown quantity and is already damaged. Yes the seller is being very honest but still it’s a gamble. Obviously just what I think and if people are paying that sort of money that can only be a good thing for all of us

Personally I would have it built with the oversized pistons then sell it I have two engines sat there in pieces doing nothing and had people offer me peanuts for and they can sit there until they are back together as will be worth more.
