First start after engine rebuild

Hi all,

I'm almost ready to get my engine rebuilt, going forged pistons and rods.

Having never had any experience regarding new engines how would i go about its first start up and breaking it in? Would it be better to send it off to be tuned first?

I'll be refitting the rebuilt engine myself along with a mate who has experience removing and fitting engines.

I'd agree with Swampy and do what your builder advises. If the worst was to happen and something did go wrong, you'd have a better chance of getting some help from your builder if you'd run the engine in as per their advice.

Real Street don't bother with break in at all really. But doesn't mean anyone else should. It's just their own subjective approach
