Yippppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Its funny how if you start referring to the law in some way how things mysteriously get done. 5 Weeks down and a lot poorer, but I am so unbelievably happy that my baby is back and subsequently celebrating with a packet of opal fruits.

So work carried out………

Remove blown engine – crankshaft failure on big ends

Rebuild secondhand engine, fitting new cam belt, power steering below, alternator belt, platinum plugs

Replace steering rack gaiters, fill filter

Refit engine using original gearbox and torque controller

Fill gearbox with new auto transmission fluid

Fill engine cooling system with long life anti freeze

Fill engine 10/40 syn fit new oil filter

all parts are Mitsu genuine parts

Total hours 15.

Oh and they cleaned it for me which is marvellous

COST??? Well who cares its only money……………:D :D :D

Hooray for you! Did they do a good job in the end?

I believe so. Sounds smooth, feels smooth [feels a little strange but that's because I haven't driven it for 5 weeks].

I'm taking it back on friday for them to just check it all over once more [FOC].

But I think its all good.

Looks fab. How are you finding her?

I have a great hint..................check the oil every other day!!!

Will do..... Im really having fun in her, no where near as fast as the Sup, but the coilover set up ive got is amazing, the car is so chuckable :D

Also really like not having to put 55 quids worth of Optimax in it every 5 days ;)

pleased for you. i'm still trying to fix Dawn's !

was there no oil warning light ?

No I had no clue, and no warning light at all. It was fine one minute and gone the next

But its my bad as I hadn't checked the oil for two weeks

Have you narrowed down Dawns problem? Is it the stepper motor?

They are great to chuck about and you don't have to worry about the rear end flying out, so that's a big bonus.

I get about 35mpg out of mine so it definately has that benefit as well.

Two weeks? Wow! I usually go more than 5000 miles between oil-checks, and they're normally by the mechanic...mind you, that's usually every six weeks.

Hope that doesn't come back and bite me though....

not really, i've found loads of info on it whic all points at the stepper motor but Dawn's engine is not a mivec its just a 2.0 v6 and i can't find te stepper motor. I haven't spent too much time on it at the mo, i'm sure i can find a picture of the engine bay with a big arrow pointing at it soon.

Good news is it passed the MOT with flying colours this morning - just need to get the tax now. The things i do for her hey !

thats a big arrow all right.

there was something with 2 screws/bolts holding it on, it must be the same thing. i'll take it off and clean it up see if that does the trick.

Thanks again

(very sparkly engine BTW)
