Having a 10k asset in the garage is nice though even if i have nothing in the bank, but realistically if it came down to it i would sell it if i had no other option and i kids depending on me. Yep all comes down to money and priorities! Rarely get the chance to use car and work on it in evenings with children so that makes you consider selling too.
