cered Posted March 7, 2016 Share Posted March 7, 2016 While fitting some new spark plugs I found that my squeaking fan/aux belt turned out to just be the PAS pump (Continues squeal sound coming from the PAS unit, sprayed some water onto the shaft and the squealing subdued very slightly) PAS fluid level normal is fine and can't see anything directly wrong with the reservoir nor the unit. Are there any diagnostic things I can do or should I just get a refurb kit - if available? Any help appreciated Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you have any air in the system, it will cause squeaking, even a small leak somewhere along the PS system could cause this. cered Posted March 8, 2016 Author Share Posted March 8, 2016 Thanks Chris, will keep that in mind - I'd prefer to not buy another second hand unit so refurb would be the best option if possible of course. Will try draining & replacing the fluid and lubing the bearing. Also saw about marking the crank pulley to check that's not broken. will update and see what happens. Further update; I don't think it's the belt as it appears fairly unworn with no noticeable wear from slipping or damage.
