Lil
Hello guys , First of all , I had my car serviced about 2 weeks ago , where I changed oil, filters and spark plugs , my mechanic said I have a leak coming from the rocker gasket so I was about to replace that by the next week as I had my family from overseas visiting me So I needed the car to drive them around , I went from bradford to London and back with no problems , I was checking the oil level and everything was fine , all until today when the oil level light came on. I stopped to a service station filled it up and continue my trip back home with no issues , when I arrived home I checked the parkway and there was a huge spot there , there is oil everywhere under the intake manifold , could all that came out of the rocker cover ?? What else I could check ? Edited May 10, 2015 by Lil (see edit history)
Noz
You need to just get under the car and locate it. It could be coming from anywhere connected to your oil lines or a gasket.
robby a
Is your oil filter screwed on tight enough ?
Scott
I would replace the rocker gaskets as a matter of course anyway. That's a huge leak though, to be losing so much oil in so little time. I would wipe down what you could with a few rags, top up the oil, start the car and look for leaks with a torch. A leak that fast should be fairly obvious. BOB B
Is your oil filter screwed on tight enough ? Have a good look at this, especially seing as you have just had a sirvice, use a torch look under were the filter is to see if its from there, also, if it's coming from the rocker gasket you should be able ti see where it's come from. You may have to give it all a good wipe clean first then start car and have a good watch.
Mk4Gaz
The easiest way to find a leak, is to buy a uv test kit. Pour the fluid into the engine, via the oil fill hole, then start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then use the supplied uv blacklight torch, and look around the engine with it. It has to be very dark, but you should find the leak pretty quickly

Lil
Thank you all for the replies, sorry for my late response but i had also some other issues that put me on a "I_don't_give_a_f_about_anything" mode... one of those days I am going to clean the engine today and take a better look, I checked the oil level and it's pretty drained.. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/11150928_10152767860085588_9161145511706465401_n.jpg?oh=18e9e2d6501ddb58bd4f053c26d3f5f2&oe=56044DCE as a few mentioned , I checked the oil filter and I actually tighten it by aprox. 1/6 turn I'm not sure if that could cause all the leak, but it seems like there was oil running from the filter's base too. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/11112716_10152767862220588_448277023074025413_n.jpg?oh=a2e189eb54fab7a25fdb97305f664497&oe=55CE2E96 Maybe she's just trying to make clear that she doesn't like pink accessories
Scott
Certainly looks like it could be there. Stupid question, but was there an o-ring with the filter?
Dazzi
I bet its the hex bolt/bung leaking on the oil filter housing. Toyota sealed it up with thread lock from factory. Edited May 13, 2015 by Dazzi (see edit history)
