Boot rust!

FOSTA

Out of interest, how much did this cost to do? The paint has now gone past the bubbling stage and is cracking, showing the rust through up to an inch away from the seal.

I need to get this sorted before it gets worse, as I doubt the water freezing under the paint recently has helped!

Buy yourself a new bootlid Josh if its that bad.

It's not as bad as AHamilton's in the pictures, but it's a strip of rust along the seal on the drivers side.

I think a new one would be a good idea :). For price, I'd like to buy second hand, but then I'd be worried about it happening again. Does anyone know how much a new bootlid would be from Toyota?

Go and see Taj next door to Ibrar, he is a top guy with paint etc and just did the repair

on my bonnet.

I'd guess as long as its not too bad then its take the wing off, take the window out, repair, paint, fit new seal and pop the

window back in and re fit the wing.

Maybe even take it off the car to do it

£250 to £300 plus the seal i'd have thought

Another mkiv problem area is the front cross member, these corrode really badly

Mine looks in good condition, luckily! I'd like to get the whole underneath cleaned and sealed at some point, to keep it as it is :)

I'll see if I can pop there to see Taj at some point as see if it's worth doing, or if a new bootlid would be cheaper.

Cheers Dunk

I have the same problem, its about the same as FOSTA, but last year I bought a good second hand one, for a very good price from one of the many cars being stripped, and I am going to either get it sprayed up and fitted or if I have enough funds I want to get the whole car done this year.

Its something to think about if you can get a good one and in the same colour.
