The paint has now gone past the bubbling stage and is cracking, showing the rust through up to an inch away from the seal. It's not as bad as AHamilton's in the pictures, but it's a strip of rust along the seal on the drivers side. I think a new one would be a good idea . For price, I'd like to buy second hand, but then I'd be worried about it happening again. Does anyone know how much a new bootlid would be from Toyota? Dnk Posted January 17, 2013 Share Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Go and see Taj next door to Ibrar, he is a top guy with paint etc and just did the repair on my bonnet. I'd guess as long as its not too bad then its take the wing off, take the window out, repair, paint, fit new seal and pop the window back in and re fit the wing. I'd like to get the whole underneath cleaned and sealed at some point, to keep it as it is I'll see if I can pop there to see Taj at some point as see if it's worth doing, or if a new bootlid would be cheaper. BOB B Posted January 18, 2013 Share Posted January 18, 2013 I have the same problem, its about the same as FOSTA, but last year I bought a good second hand one, for a very good price from one of the many cars being stripped, and I am going to either get it sprayed up and fitted or if I have enough funds I want to get the whole car done this year.
