Parry_10
Really bugging me now just been out to have another look and it looks like behind the air con pulley there is some bolts that bolt that bracket part (that supports the power steering pump) to the air con pump. It would be easy to check if someone has a pump off the car or even if you go and have a look at your air con pump you will understand what im saying more. hackin_n_bashin
I have one on my shelf, took it off last night. Does look like you can remove the pulley, and there are Allen head bolts underneath. What lurks after is an unknown!
chazuk
Dam I think I chucked my air con pump away , how easy is it to make a bracket ?

Im so sure of it but not going to say for definate until ive done it myself.
Parry_10
Dam I think I chucked my air con pump away , how easy is it to make a bracket ? In theory its easy to make a bracket yes but if it will be good enough who knows? id imagine alot of engineering and tests went into making that air con bracket on the front of the air con pump. If I was you I would just find another air con pump.
Colin-mkiv
I reckon that even with a support bar on the front from the PS pump to that bottom bolt on the block that it'll still flex. I might make 2 identical support bars and put one front and rear, just to try and help combat any twisting or flex that might occur.
Lude
i ran my car for about 6 months without a bracket. now i have a screetching noise from the belt, asif its slipping. ive made a bracket, but its still doing the screetching noise. going to put a bracket on like this..... as my bracket attaches higher up above the crank pulley so to speak

Lude
this is how some have done it, by removing the front of the air con pump...... paul372 can you post up please, i need to sort mine out as the squeeking is doing my head in
fastcar
Parry10 just thought I would let you know that your theory is right! I have just looked at my supra workshop manuals and you can indeed take the bracket of the front of the AC compressor so there will be no need to make a bracket you can just use that. Paul372
that's how i've done mine mate, the same way as that picture, by stripping down the aircon pump and using that part of it as the bracket
Parry_10
Paul372 has just confirmed my theory that the front part of the air con pump unbolts from the rest of the pump. So id say the best way to do it is to use this as a bracket as this is the part that is used to support the power steering pump. Obviously at your own risk but this is what im going to be doing I dont see there being any problems doing it this way.

Paul372
i've got a spare aircon pump but it's a working pump when i removed it which as had a new bearing in the pulley, so i would want £80 for it

Rob_Mitchell
Use the front of the air con pump is a good way BUT i wish i had gone custom now and had a fancy bracket made... would look neater
Chris Wilson
Paul372 has the right idea, that's fine, just strip the pump and re-use the front bracket if you are determined to remove the rest of it.
