Bomex fitting

Recommended Posts

I've had my bomex fitted for about a month now and was done by a friend. The driver's side is fine but the passenger's side sticks out slightly. Im currently trying to find a pic on my pc but only have them at home. It looks like the corner of the bumper should be bolted to the arch lining, but feels very tight when you push it in to line it up.

Anyone else had this problem?

im glad im not alone. i fitted mine today and it was a nightmare!! the first problem was cutting down the scoop to clear the intercooler. once i got it right i had do make the holes on the sides to use the original bolting plates. i got the holes spot on bit it seems like the holes above the nose cone are out. i tried lining up the nose cone first the do up the nuts on the side but now the passenger side sticks out and leaves a fair size gap to the inner arch, the drivers side is perfect. even though the shut lines for the bonnet look good and the fitment around the lights and wings look good, i still think that having to force it slightly has warped it. im gonna have another go at the weekend so i'll post again if i have any luck..

i've attached a picture but it doesnt show very well

i finnished work early so i thought i'd take it off again. with the bumper off the car its still out of shape. i thinks im just gonna have to get the hack saw and resin to it. my old mans worked with fibreglass for years and thinks my bumper was taken out the mould to early before it had cured.. cheap crap!! he thinks there might be a way of cutting a few slits in the bottom lip, re possition it then glass it again. it should work he thinks, i'll let you know how it goes.

last time i but stuff off ebay. not sure where it originally came from though coz i just got it off some bloke (delboy trotter i believe).

if anyones got any other ideas before i f@*k it right up, let me know...

I really wish people would stop buying cheap off ebay...this is what you get...!

Sorrry mate - but I dont reckon there is much you can do - split the bottom and cut a wedge out to allow it to be forced in...???

If you are down there - I have a chap who could look at it for you - but prognosis not good... :(

Completely agree with Paul here. Virtually all the e-bay/budget kits I’ve seen (or bought!) are absolute crap. Even the kits from some so called 'reputable' companies are no better.

I've bought kit from Paul E (Miami-GT) on 2 occasions, both times the kit has been a direct bolt on with no trimming and only a tiny bit of filling required (this was just to smooth one small area on a front bumper). Basically it was a direct bolt-on. I've removed the front bumper several times since it was fitted and every time it bolts back on with a perfect line between the wings and lights.

'you pay cheap, you pay twice'

How many times has that been said now, eh Paul? :D

Or you are left with a bumper that wont even come close to fitting, as is the case with the Do-Luck I bought from Hyper-Performance..!! Am now having to go to the Trading Standards and Small Claims Court to attempt to get my money back, if not over £350 down the toilet..!!!

Hey Rob, who is Don?

Also, did you get the Bomex rear spats as well? Because the genuine bomex spats me and Lightwave have do not fit properly at all. The OS one doesn't meet the curve of the bumper correctly. Does yours?

i must admin once bolted on, it fits well on the wings and bonnet shut. its just the side thats wrong.i might have to make a steel brace to fit underneath to pull it all in and secure it. "bloody determined to make it work" only paid £300,i can live with that! if all goes well can anyone recomend some spotlights to fit into the front holes?

Just seen this again.

My bumper was bought from you, Paul E. Remember i sent the cab from ilford to twickenham and back? What fun that was! lol

The whole thing is the same as gzaerojon's. It fits perfect except the passenger side. I can live with it for the time being but would love to know if someone could sort it out though. Not willing to pay stupid prices though
