NA-T or NA-TT; I'm confused

no its not , why do people keep saying this? can someone point out where the gte is stronger than the ge? same block. same crank , same rods .

 

This is what i got told when i was looking for my 1st supra in 2009. I was looking at a single turbo NA (of which i didnt know it was an NA back then) and when i posted up what everyone thought most people said not to bother with the NA-T and the TT's are alot better, this NA had so much done to it aswell but everyones advice was the TT was the one to go for as the engines are better. Correct me if im wrong but the NA's use a distributor and the TT's dont. Which is better isnt it? meaning the just one better things already over the NA engine..

Sorry im only goin off what iv heard or been told.

a BPU'D supra is like 8k though?

NA-T is 6k average?

 

To do a reliable turbo conversion on a 2JZGE will cost a LOT more than £6K, the price of a quality NA-T kit is around £4K (forget cheap poor quality Ebay rubbish), add to that fueling upgrades, ECU/mapping, drivetrain upgrades to handle the power, cooling, exhaust, electronics, labour, etc. etc. £10K minimum if you want something that'll be reliable.

 

To answer the OP question the best option is to sell the NA and buy a TT.

Based on your search what conclusion did you make regarding NA-T?

 

I have no intention of defending the OP because it is clear he didn't search first but I have found it hard in the past with N/A-T searches due to the shortness of the words and the need for a minimum of three letters in the search engine. See the reason and need for the minimum field but it makes things harder than other searches

JamieP recommended this kit in another thread. They do a kit for a 5 speed and an auto gearbox. Needs other items but the manifold, turbo and downpipe is supplied. Assume USD cost to roughly equal GBP delivered or collected from Royal Mail on payment of customs and VAT but UPS or another courier might work out cheaper, as I think they factor it into their price and pay it for you. Not sure.

As I mentioned to Jamie in another thread, I'm almost certain they won't work with RHD. I was in contact with them last year about a possible kit but decided not to risk it in the end. It does look more cost effective than some of the current offerings, but that kit is only a small part of the total. E£ven if it had fitted, I was still expecting the total cost to be in the region of £4-5k doing all work myself.

you are rite in that the tt comes with some better things standard , but the engine itsself is no stronget than the ge that is what i was getting at , sure the soils and lower comp pistons make it a better engine to tune in its factory form over the ge , but my point is that it is no stronger than the ge as you said. if you want an engine to rebuild for big power the ge is every bit as strong and capeable as the gte . all im saying :)
