Swampy442
My brother bought an n/a Aristo, same GE engine as the Supra. Now when he bought it there were some coolant issues, the previous owner said it had burst a hose. On further investigation the water pump was long since dead and the rad cap was siezed, plus the lines to the expansion bottle were cloged up, the heater matrix was leaking. So changed the water pump, cleaned the lines to the expansion bottle and changed the rad cap. Problem Im geting now is when trying to bleed the system its constantly pumping air out. Could this be a symptom of h/g? The car runs, starts and performs as normal. Im going to get a sniff check done to see if hydrocarbons are present but just wondering if anyone has any input? Awisto
What have you done about the leaking heater matrix? Jack the the front of the car about a foot in the air and try to bleed again.
Swampy442
Only K sealed it as a temp measure Nick, gonna change it soon but just want to know what we're in for first
Awisto
If you've not put any expensive coolant in it, I'd drain out, then slowly refill while engine running and go from there (unless you did slowly do it on the first place) and get a sniff test done. You can get the kit for about £30 from your local motor factors, plenty to do about a 100 cars in one kit, so nice little money earner
Swampy442
Well good news, its not the head gasket. Deep down I thought it was fine given how tough these engine are. Yesterday I spent the morning checking every hose and clip for security, its had alot of pipework replaced and jubilee clips fitted. Today all was good so thanks for your input
Konrad
If you want to get rid of air from system, leave car with front on the higher groung than rear for a night (with cap off).
