Toyota study on pre compressor shaping and control of air , seems they had some good gains , but use of VIGV alone less so , but they were relying on the low velocity intake air and not water saturated air

Along the right lines though good work

I guess some high costs involved with the VIGV actuation and control system

A bit of an update:

Some great work carried out at AFR !

Some more good baseline data has been obtained , using thermocouples installed , various temps have been logged and in the first part these can be used to compare with the charge cooler now fitted in series with the fmic .

Then the fmic can be removed and more data collected .

Using discharge temp from compressor also means that I have calculated the turbo efficiency at the current boost ( just under 70% ) this now can be used to calculate the efficiency gain once the pre comp water meth is used and shows the turbo to be in good order .

Also fmic data has been logged , it worked well !

Now more radical things can be done and deltas recorded

I think Adam will wait till we have a bit more data rather than just keep posting in little bits, soon we will have FMIC and Chargecooler date and soon after that just chargecooler so thats worth posting, then we can start the interesting stuff.

Are you going to post any of the data?

To a point yes , and certainly answer some questions re charge cooling as an alternative and water and oil cooling needs .

Most people are only interested in bhp and torque as a final number.

Hopefully establish some det limits which will be useful and some boost limits too .

The next set of data will be interesting for anyone thinking of charge cooling

After many delays the billet sprag has turned up , so this can now go in the boostlogic box , with the torque converter .

So the gearbox can now take a bit more punishment.

Lots more stuff arrived , laminova cooler , and lots of instrumentation.

As an idea of the instuments to go in:

CHT x 6

EGT pre and post turbine

oil temp x 3

boost px x3

water temp x 3

oil px x2

det x 2

IAT x 3

fuel

AFR

That will keep Luke busy !

Once this lot has provided data then boost can be raised until limits reached .

Undersize water pump pulley , twin stats are ready for instal and testing , if more cooling needed then it's head off and some rework
