Renting a garage

Supragal

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for the same thing for when I get my Supe. Although we live in a very quiet village I know I'll sleep easier if it is hidden out of sight. Trouble is I think it'll mean renting spare garage space from a resident and that could lead to issues with noise disturbance and hours of use.

I wonder if there is an onlibe renting directory? If you find one, can you let me know?

Might sound a silly answer but have you tried up around the military camp, there may be some area which is low security that would have lock-ups.

btw. Nice chippy in Bordon, parked up in the car park over the road many times overnight (but watch out for the mad squirrel that throws things at you :scare: )

Wow, thanks Christian. £30 a month I can deal with!! I'll have a word with the estate agents once we're moved in perhaps. We've got a driveway and it's in a very quit cul-de-sac so I'm not worried about anything except the weather damaging it!!

John- I'm amazed you know the place, people who live pretty close to it don't and you're in M Keynes!! Military presense is supposed ot be on it's way out so maybe there will be loads of spare storage facilities :eyebrows: I'll, err, look out for the.... err squirrel?! lol

Not being funny, but seriously, how do you lot know that? I would have had no idea that garages even remotely linked to the council, and I certainly have no idea how you'd go about contacting the council. Is this stuff you were taught at school? From parents? from being in situations that resulted in contacting the council? I'm pretty dim when it comes to stuff like this and I'm not sure where I've missed some huge educational part of my life :D

Personally I'd much rather have my pride and joy on the driveway in front of the house than in some garage block on a council estate some distance away. I'm sure you wouldn't be able to install a decent lock to a council owned garage, and those blocks aren't often overlooked by houses. Unlikely to have double garages to rent either I would have thought. Wouldn't some form of car cover be a safer option?

Neil- East Hampshire I think! (I've done some research!!)

Lust- That was my intention too but it would seem that I don't know enough about car paint to fully understand why it must be garaged. Got a b*llocking from the sprayshop about it and several members on here too!! I only have a driveway, not even a single garage, it's my first house, I'm not sure how a double garage would have been possible!!

And yes it would need to be a double garage. Hmm, I see, so they are COUNCIL estate garages, now I understand the link. I was imagining some old dear renting me her unused garage and hense couldn't see the connection with the council. Right. Maybe I need to go down the military route more then :(

Wondered if it was for the supe, you'd never get it in a normal council garage, can't imagine they'll have doubles, though stand to be corrected......

You can buy DIY stand alone metal garages, if you've got space to put one up. Not sure if they require planning permission though (they usually ain't pretty).

Come to think of it, probably not wide enough either... how about a nice marquee?
