my supra story (pic heavy!)

Hey bud, looks great! good to have another supe despoilered! can't wait to see it in the flesh!

Well.. i have had my supe for over 3 years now and it has been a fair journey, ups and my fair shares or downs! including a piece of rubber stuck under a valve wich cost me almost 2k to fix! being one of the worst, but it feels like i have FINALLY started to get the supra just how i want it.

so.. here's where it all began, the day i picked it up-

an honest looking NA SZ-R 5 speed, all stock accept some hideous wrong size rims.. car also came with glass headlights, bilstien shocks and LSD being a SZ-R.

So, i never had too much money, and it has taken me three years to get it where it is at, my mods started with replacing the rims, i got some good value ones, i like the look and for my budget they were spot on.. they are still on the car to this day and it is the only thing i want to change really, altho this time i am going to save up and get a quality set (my aims are set high on a set of CCW classics)

Next up was the retrim, not usually the way round people mod but it's the way i did it and i'm glad i got this done first, when you make it a nice place to sit, it seems power and looks can come second lol.

so my Transcal chilli red retrim-

Now as always, whilst saving, i got a heap of small things done, dyed carpet, painted calipers, dash etc etc.

Then came the engine conversion.. Now people say 'why not just buy a TT, well, i didn't want too, simples. It just felt right to keep this car, i have loved it in every form it has been, only enjoying each stage for what it was. it may have cost me a little more but this in the end is definately a car i can call my own.

so, the engine is a strong one, it dyno'd at 341.5bhp, with only an FMIC, puck clutch and BOV as mods, picked up 'car of the day' at the dyno against some great cars. very chuffed :)

Problems did start, the main being, as i mentioned. the random rubber stuck under a valve that seen the car off the road for 3 months and a heafty bill, luckily nothing was damaged and it was a simple case of removal, head off joby.

got some pics once i got it back-

and now some saving began, over time i picked up these-

Tein lowering springs

carbon diffuser

carbon front lip

carbon rear boot lip

blitz skirts

new disks and pads all round

new falken 452's all round.

I will give credit to Paul Whifin too as he has helped me out, an asset to the forum imo.

So, finally a month ago the car went into the bodyshop, plan was, despoler, remove rear wiper and nozle, remove arial, remove numberplate surrounds, fill all holes inc fog hole, i also got a crack reparied in the rear quarter behind the wheel from the previous owner reversing into a high curb. skirts on and sprayed.

So, i was kinda winging it hopeing that everything would work together and tie in in the end, but i suppose i'll let you decide..

so.. the 'last' things to do exterior wise is to get some black mesh just for inbetween the front lip and bumper and facelift rear lights, will be ordered tuesday. (may get facelift fronts too...)

the dash will be getting retrimmed in black leather with red stitching as soon as i get funds. :)

the retrim was done at Transcal in Livingston, so not too far. I highly recomend them, they suply the ready trimmed leather that goes into astons etc.

thats not too far to travel, did you have to leave the car with them or were you given seat or two to use while yours were getting re-done?

iirc they need the cars seat pattern to work from, i had to leave my car with them for 2 weeks so they could make up the entire pattern.. BUT that now means it's on there system as mine was there first supra.

now what they do is book your car in advance, they make up the retrim before hand and you can either send them all the parts to trim and they turn it over in only a few days and return them to you. either that or you drop the car off and they have it complete in a few days (4days i think) and you pick it up.

this is there website- http://www.transcal.co.uk

i honestly can't recomend them enough, the quality is second to none imo.
