opinions on matte black Supras

I think it ruins the lines of the car. You need the shine to make the most of the curves. Matt finishes make it look like the car has only had half a paint job. Satin has a bit more of an edge to it and if done very well you can get away with it.

I would get a matt black wrap if you were going to go that colour, its how most cars are done (430's etc...) in a wrap not actually painted. You can also remove the wrap and your original colour will be left untouched.

I like so many different styles on Supras, as long as they are done with some form of class, so I can never decide for definite if I would go for a matte/satin finish or a gloss finish (if I was to buy a black one).

So many options...

i love the supra in matt and satin black. Ever since I saw Rik's at pod a few weeks before his untimely death a few years ago. At the time I had a Corsa van I had done in matt using a nasty electric spray gun from lidls and it looked great.

I couldnt quite bring myself to spray my NA in satin black but now I have a TT that needs quite a bit of bodywork doing anyhow I will be doing it in satin for sure. Just havnt decided wether to paint it or have a go with the vinyl wrap. I did go and have a look at a Lexus Soarer a few months ago that had been on pistonheads and the dude claimed he had sprayed it in a clio pearlescent black and simply not laquered it. Loved the look of the paint but the car was on the verge of rotting away. When I spoke to my nephew who is a sprayer he was unsure how the pant was mixed as he said the newer stuff is not solvent based and doesnt go off completely relying on the laquer for resilience.
