Swampy442
Why dont you just take it off and have a look? They generally leak from the shaft seal if theyre biffed, just get a refurb kit, no guarantees a used one will last anyway
JODY T
do toyota do a refurb kit for the ps pump? any idea on price, part number etc

Kirk
There's two kits you can get. One gasket kit for the steering gear (rack and pinion) and one for the steering control valve Part numbers are 04445-14040 (rack and pinion) 04455-24051 (steering control valve)

JODY T
Lol, I think its my actual Pump thats lazy, was hoping to be able to rebuild, as I could buy a 2nd hand one and it could pack up quickly.. I like taking things apart too..
Kirk
They do a gasket kit for the pump also 04446-30120
Swampy442
Unless the pump rotor is trashed it shouldnt get lazy, not really under much stress. Ive seen a how to guide with part numbers etc. Ill try and find it and post back.
JODY T
it doesnt make any noise atall, neither does the rack, The ECu is fine as is the solenoid, and the speed sensor signals.. But turn the wheel and itll go tight, and then loosen off, then go tight intermittantly.. So not sure. Fluid seems to be circulating but not at any real velosity. A how to, would be very much welcomed.. Ill find out how much the refurb kit is
Swampy442
There is a vacuum powered valve in the system mate to make it easier at low speeds, I sent one to Barney, maybe check the pipework to that is ok or the valve itself isnt broken?
JODY T
a valve? Where is that then? is that where the pipework off the inlet goes down into the bit where the banjo bolt is on the side of the pump?
JODY T
just seen your post on the old thread, yeah it is the valve i was thinking about.. Do we know the correct operation for said valve?
Swampy442
Not 100% but it uses the vacuum to provide assistance at low speed. As far as I know
