gt4tosupra
My Szr is currently in the classifieds, but just thinking, how many people have done lpg conversions, and how much money roughly would i save, currently getting through approx £300 per month on fuel? Cheers
dr_jekyll
lpg supra = deadly sin. for the price of an lpg conversion you could buy tax and insure a little runaround and keep the supe for special ocasions

Do you still get LPG grants from the Gov? They used to give you around £900 towards one. I would recommend it to be honest, trouble is finding somewhere for the tank
Jamesy
No more grants on offer anymore
dude
Toroidal tank will go in where the spare fits and a multipoint injection system you will not tell its in there, if you get 30mpg on petrol you will get about 27 on gas at 58p a ltr. Who wants a crappy runaround when u can drive the supe for cheap! I bought a mint celica gt T reg for 1800 a couple of weeks ago as a replacement/runaround, but even tho its better than a runaround, it just doesnt cut the biscuit next to the supe! it is good in snow tho:p
icemanv6
Been thinking exactly the same thing, got a quote for 1560 pounds to have mine converted to LPG. Will be paying about the same amount as you in fuel once it get's back on the road.

dude
I have a number for the guy that did my range rover but he is not cheap, he uses very good kits, you leave it on lpg the whole time and it swaps as it wants to when the engine is warm enough etc, you can swap to petrol at the push of a button. You really need a multipoint kit though.
Dnk
Bare in mind you'll need to do quite a few miles on lpg before you actually start to save any money. I think if my maths hasnt gone pear shaped if you save 50p per litre then you'll need to use 4000 litres to get to the install cost if thats £2000 So dont do it unless your keeping the car for a while. dude
Do you mean having a gas conversion on a Supra will add value? Really??? It does in my opinion, I drive a 4.6 range rover 100 miles a day, I dont think I would if it was petrol !!!!! Just remember if you have an LPG tank installed at home/work for heating it costs under 30p a ltr, if you keep chickens its 11p a ltr (no duty) and if you happen to mention that you have a hot air ballon they very nicely install the fittings that just happen to match the filler on your car, 11p per ltr must be equivalent to about 170mpg in monetary terms, LPG is higher octane too BTW, the yanks have been racing on it for years. Gambit
I can understand it adding value on a Range Rover but on a Supra it's like a Veilside rear spoiler. IMO
gt4tosupra
so how would u go about getting a tank in the house as well and who would fill it up for my chickens:D
dude
I believe the gas supply companies install them foc if you sign a contract to buy the lpg fom them.

Terminator
There was a MKIV round here covered in stickers LPG a few years ago, not seen it for a while. I had a 4L Landrover running on LPG, even with two huge tanks under the car the problem was often range. I abandoned it a few years ago as I got fed up trying plan long routes that would include a LPG station. If you live and work in easy reach of LPG stations or can employ Dudes approach, it might be worth while. The tank in the spare wheel well will be very small so you will constantly be filling it up. IMO it would be worth loosing the boot for. build up a false boot floor that sit fairly even with the rear seats when folded down.
gt4tosupra
all good advice but this lpg in your back yard for chickens thing, is it plausable and how come everyone isnt doing it?
dangerous brain
Thing is its all well and good saying get a cheap little sh*tter run around and drive that but you are being utterly blind to the cost of it. You still need to pay for tax, MOT, and insurance which as a second car on an additional policy is running to approximately £600 a year. On top of that you find that consumables come up every sodding month when you start using more than one vehicle (OK I have 5 cars but its similar with 2). So your benefits run at £600 a year saved on the additional cars annual running costs, and you get to drive in your P&J not in some heap of crap. IMHO what you are doing is in fact buying the ability to use your posh car for the difference between the annual fixed running costs of the sh*tter and the cost of installing the gas less the additional value you've added by fitting LPG to the vehicle. When I bought my aristo I factored the cost of a conversion into the overall price and accept that as the vehicle purchase price. Its all gravy from now. dangerous brain
I'm getting the LPG done next week now as the bloke broke his arm. Yes it will be fitted in the spare wheel well (but I actually have a boot unlike you lol) and no I live in rented so no gas tank outside.
