DSK
New 2.0ltr 200bhp Boxer engine and RWD.... a couple of steps in the right direction! The styling will be on par with a lot of current contenders in the class but I personally I feel that many hot cars are dressed in heavy macho suits. If the keep up with the decent interior as fitted to the 190 T sports etc etc then hopefully this will be a nice Celica that actually stands proud. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/242977/toyota_celica_returns.html

martini
Fail. Haha, gash. I can't find the original article now - are these not the same cars? EDIT: Even if I did make a mistake and they are not the same, I don't like either of them!

Scott
I really like that to be honest. It is definitely a step in the right direction as far as the celica goes. reminds me a bit of the modern merc's vs the modern civics lol. I'm wondering if there will be a blower on any japanese versions.
Wez
Liking that, just needs a turbo and we are almost there
Abz
Looks like it is up against the VW Scirroco - I've driven the 2.0 TSI one & its bloody quick! I'm wondering if there will be a blower on any japanese versions. Scott - looks like they are using the Subaru boxer engine although no mention of using a turbo charger. Though I can see this being a massive mod in the aftermarket scence if they don't.

Willson
It's not a celica!!! They're not really gonna call it an "FT-86" though, surely.
Gaz6002
They're not really gonna call it an "FT-86" though, surely. Well the 80s Corolla "lightweight sports coupe" was known as the AE86...
Thorin
It's a Celica. 2 door coupe, they're not planning any 4 door versions.
Gaz6002
It's a Celica. 2 door coupe, they're not planning any 4 door versions. It's RWD, and more importantly, I have it on quite solid authority that they won't be labelling it Celica.
tbourner
Well the 80s Corolla "lightweight sports coupe" was known as the AE86... Are you sure that's not just now though? Or at least if it was then it was only a certain few tuners (and drifters) that called it that to distinguish it? I would imagine the every day bloke on the street looking for a new car would want to call it a Celica (and would have called the AE86 a Corolla), or do you say you're driving a JZA80?
