Kirk
as previously stated, unless its properly ducted and shielded from heat its doing more harm than good.. A good example of this is on martini's car (no offence mate ).. he has a HKS filter and some mix and match pipe work, the car felt well down on power. Pot
I've got an Apexi on mine at the moment, with the 'bit of' hard pipe... The difference in performance is very noticeable, there's less lower end grunt, but more joy though the high end of the rev range (Which I reckon is slower overall), but if you don't want to worry about that, and have a digital right foot, it does sound lovely I'll be refitting the standard box I reckon... w41k3r
do you want to be a noisy bugger or a silent assasin i think thats the only thing you have to think about i have an apexi on mine got that because it was supposed to be best at filtering no problems in a year very happy but make sure you have a good filter as stated above
Ian C
Like I said you will need to ensure you have a good filter (I used K&N) I've had a K&N on mine for a few years now, and when I last washed it, I got a sink full of black murk, grit, and insects. You couldn't see your own hands under the water, the crap it filtered out was astonishing. The turbo compressor vanes, about one foot away from the filter, look like new. Now that's filtration -Ian
Supra_Scott
I've ran a Simota filter (from invo auto) with polished metal pipework back to the inlet which gave good induction noise but a major flat spot around 3500rpm - 4500rpm. Took it off and ran a TRD replacement element in the standard air box which didn't alter induction noise but improved pick up over stock filter. I later ran the Apexi kit (now on Pot's Sup) Which was better than the TRD element imo in regard to performance and gave a subtle induction note. Only reason its not still on my Sup is i've taken the plunge and gone NA-T.
