SteveR
I've finished off a pair of disks at Llandow, anyone got anything worth considering before I go buying new? (gulp) IIRC they are 356mm - is that the smaller of 2 sizes that KAD / AP do? Chris (Wilson) - I think Bignum said you had some nearly new disks for sale a while back? W.H.Y.? T2 MSW
Sell them and get some UK fronts & wheels ready for track tyres? I'm sure Steve will go for that one can all but try how about looking at the carbon disks not sure if they do them in the 356mm though may be only an option for the floaters
SteveR
Sell them and get some UK fronts & wheels ready for track tyres? Nah, don't think 'UK brakes' will cope with the braking I need considering the power & weight of my car, and to really enjoy the car I need confidence in my brakes more than anything. Track tyres will come soonish, I'm definitely not going to get any quicker without going to that level now. how about looking at the carbon disks not sure if they do them in the 356mm though may be only an option for the floaters Aren't they going to be £££££££? SteveR
Easy:d Yours is stipped-out though mate, and you still need those funky conditioner bottle air ducts. I like my mega brakes.

SteveR
Your just after bling behind the wheels Ignore me ive just checked your garage, how much were the KAD fronts ? Trust me mate I need the big brakes. The current setup (minus the race pads I fitted not long ago - and have now killed!) were on the car when I got it. Dnk
Is that because you think oooh i can go into here this fast but then realise ooops no i cant What are the KAD's like compared to the UK fronts
SteveR
Is that because you think oooh i can go into here this fast but then realise ooops no i cant No, I'm not you. Anyway your car is much faster than you realise, you should have come on the track day and wound the wick up a little. You'll surprise yourself at how capable the car really is, I'm sure. What are the KAD's like compared to the UK fronts Much bigger, and 6-pot Vs 4. They are balanced to work with UK rears however, unlike most (all?) other big brake kits. Ark
I thought KAD disks were the same pattern as AP disks, so they are interchangable. Whibitz are the dealers for KAD in the Supra pattern, but anywhere that deal in AP will be able to sort you out. You only need the disks, not the bells. Whibitz are the dealers for KAD in the Supra pattern, but anywhere that deal in AP will be able to sort you out. You only need the disks, not the bells. I told Paul on Saturday I might be calling him for some new disks, but was wondering if there are any other items available from elsewhere (CW maybe has some barely used disks, so I'm told) before I dust the chequebook off. SteveR
Second hand brake disks are one thing I wouldn't want on my car... Si reckoned Chris had some that had done minimal mileage (3~4 laps). I share your concern, but what sort of damage can be caused in such a short distance? Chris wouldn't sell anything substandard/unsafe. If I have to go new I will. vvteye
Nah, don't think 'UK brakes' will cope with the braking I need considering the power & weight of my car, I've got uk brakes and last time they boiled over and I needed new pads and discs, this time after the second run the nsf calliper was on fire. Now they are spongy and making a noise though pads and disks are ok. Hoping to get away with an £80 refurb mmmmm 6 pots you lucky sod.
Dnk
Sounds like they need a complete overhaul including taking the pistons out, also be wise to change the brake fluid at the same time. I've only had 1 problem with my brakes, a siezed rear piston due to the outer seal having a small hole in it letting in moisture etc
vvteye
thats what I'm planning, I assume the £40 quid a caliper from whifbitz is all I need unless the pistons are fooked?
Paul Whiffin
Hi Steve, KAD have stopped doing there own discs now, so AP would be your only option, let me know if you need a price on them. How are your pads though?
