Matt Harwood Posted March 14, 2002 Share Posted March 14, 2002 A quick word of warning. I have a metalic pearl red paint job on my car. I am going to get it repainted a more "normal" colour soon because it can't be maintained. I have Candy Apple Red Pearl. It was painted by a very competent bodyshop that, I'm told, have turned out some brilliant jobs in the past. However, the topcoat is transparent and if you look up close, can look patchy. It is painted from a Silver basecoat, then has a metalic red mid coat and finnished with a red pearl. If any of these layers are painted or mixed slightly different, the finish wont match. As such, if you ever get any stone chips or scratches, you are generally looking at a full respray. I have arrived at the conclusion that a more "normal" colour is on the cards... I have tried 3 different bodyshops now to get them to paint my front bumper but none of them will touch it. Looks nice, but a Pain in the butt! Ian C Posted March 14, 2002 Share Posted March 14, 2002 A lot of colours have been done with Supras - Ibrar's corking Kwaka Blue, Kaleel's dark purple, some gruesome yellows and oranges, but I think a nice British Racing Green might be in order?
