Sheesh the precautions we gotta take for landing that. Good to know the guys are doing the job though. Theyve actually been really reliable, we have 5 and generally have 5 servicable, although its just a matter of 'how servicable' lol Hows it going mate? Must be a RAF thing with the wifi, we had none at our bit. Where did the rocket land? was it the airfield again? At least you have only had the one so far The DFAC at camp charlie has wifi now mate, dunno if the J1 village was up at charlie when you were over here but it is now, and its basically a Brit compound now. The Americans have taken over Trenchard which incidentally is where the rocket landed lol. Someone was talking to one of the local cleaners, they were asking when the brits pull out, cos when we leave "lot boom boom boom"

For months whilst patrolling the town centre the locals were saying they didnt want us to leave but they wanted the yanks too. Its all gona go nuts when we pull out

It's just if we have to do a "heavy landing" the stuff they're made of means we have to go into full citadel shut down. The stuff's that hectic. I feel for you guys and the pilots / crew. I would've liked to think that the powers that be could make stuff outta materials that don't threaten our folks on the sharp end. With the amount invested in Merlin though, that wasn't gonna happen. legendswraith
Take it easy out in the sand, shame the days are gone when we used to get the hotel and sea to go with it. Take it you are techying there and not doing convoy guard

For months whilst patrolling the town centre the locals were saying they didnt want us to leave but they wanted the yanks too. Its all gona go nuts when we pull out They caught a bloke on camp the other day with a GPS. What does that say to you.... They are reliable. I would've liked to think that the powers that be could make stuff outta materials that don't threaten our folks on the sharp end. With the amount invested in Merlin though, that wasn't gonna happen. What about the amount of investment still going on mate? Theyre still developing the BERP IV and V blades, modding the Danish 3a's, upgrading our Mk3's. Im not entirely sure what full citadel shut down is lol. As for the materials, if it wasnt made of as much carbon and plastic as it is, it wouldnt be able to do half the stuff it does lol take care mate and safe return. (my youngest was on these as many others, when he was at boscombe on avionics.) Thanks very much Farmer Take it easy out in the sand, shame the days are gone when we used to get the hotel and sea to go with it. Take it you are techying there and not doing convoy guard I know what you mean! Ive been in 17 years and this is my first proper desert time! My time on Jaguars doing Northern Watch (northern no fly zone) was spent in Turkey lol. And no, almost all the convoy stuff it done by the Americans now thank god! That is one clear sign to get the fook out sharpish And no, almost all the convoy stuff it done by the Americans now thank god! This was my job out there And my boys are still out there doing it. On the right is Aunti Anns pretzel and coffee wagon, on the left is a phalanx cannon. If you dont know what a Phalanx is just search youtube!!
