Just followed the usual process mate:

Wire brushed all loose rust and dirt off,

sprayed with a decent degreaser and wiped down (covering rubber bits),

Took remainder of dirt and rust off with a sanding attachment on a dremel drill and wiped down again.

No primer - just put on about 3-4 coats of the Hammerite Smooth (applied thinly to avoid runs).

Decals from the usual guy on ebay. :)

What paint did you use for that? Did you treat the surface with anything before hand?

Quite like the blue James

Was going to go for a blue myself at one point.

Did mine blue, but soon changing to another colour ;)

Also did my gf's orange when I fitted her new disc's

Was a bit of a size difference from her car to mine lol

This is my new color choice for the calipers, gunmetal, looks wonderful against silver I would imagine

They the ones off Supraforums mate ? They do look good but then again the guy went to a lot of trouble to get such a good finish.

I'm very pleased with mine for the £5 cost of a pot of hammerite smooth.

Any thoughts on the best colour brakes for a red car? Do you think red would look good or black with white lettering?

I think I'd be tempted to go with black/red lettering or what about gold?

Very interested in seeing these on the car when they're done!

Hope to get them on next week at the same time as my new wheels are going on, so will post some pics then.

Yes they are, probably won't look the same of course but I am going for a gunmetal with silver writing. Now if only I had a nice set of alloys that showed them off :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Still not fitted yet. The Supra is off the road ATM, saving some money for a TT :D But just waiting for the do-luck braided brake lines to arrive then I'll be stripping down, refurbing and painting them, probably go for black with the chrome logos.

Wanna do it right first time so I'm getting myself prepared as much as possible. I'd love to get them looking like the ones in the picture below,

But I've no idea how to get them looking that good! I will certainly let you know when they're done :)

Has anyone else used the chrome decals? (with pics?)
