j1mb0b1
Hi all just a quick one, Would you notice the extra performance from the slight weight loss, what other things can you remove without going crazy or making it look like a shell, What have other people done?? jevansio
Hi all just a quick one, Would you notice the extra performance from the slight weight loss, what other things can you remove without going crazy or making it look like shell, What have other people done?? You won't notice the performance on the seats alone, See the weightloss section on this site: http://www.suprahardtopregistry.com/
RobSheffield
I removed mine, simply because i know no dwarves or midgets to put in the back
jevansio
I removed mine to allow me to fit 4 point harnesses to the existing rear seatbelt mount points (and also because I too don't want any dwarves or midgets in the back)
Matt H
I removed mine, simply because i know no dwarves or midgets to put in the back Suppose it would be quite tricky for you to sit in the back and drive at the same time!!

j1mb0b1
I removed mine, simply because i know no dwarves or midgets to put in the back So there is not much point in removing the back seats then, because one day i may have to give a mini me a lift to shops
hadyn
Next time I go to the strip, I'm considering removing my rear seats. I already remove the spare tyre and jack and I've noticed better performance because of that. Shedding a bit more weight can only be a good thing cant it? How much do the rear seats weigh? JamieP
With the rear seats removed the car is very noisy and as they weigh about the same as a good turn out id leave them put:)
jevansio
With the rear seats removed the car is very noisy and as they weigh about the same as a good turn out id leave them put:) That is true, it sounds like you're driving down a gravel drive everywhere
Chiefgroover
With the rear seats removed the car is very noisy and as they weigh about the same as a good turn out id leave them put:) If this is for everyday driving it's pointless unless you have accurate timing gear on and use it every day. Toyota kept the supra pretty light for its size.
hadyn
Id only remove the seats for drag racing. They'd be put back in for my daily commute
TTRickeh
I removed my rear seats, spare wheel, rear speakers, and rear seatbelts but I ended up putting the spare wheel back in as there wasn't enough weight over the back end which made the car a bit twitchy. I'll take it back out when i've relocated the battery and put a sub & two amps in the back seat which should make it a more even distribution again. j1mb0b1
I have just got back from the nurburgring and I removed the seats, spare wheel and anything els that was heavy and the car felt like it had about 50BHP more , You can really tell. Darragh
i dont see the point in pulling your car apart to get a fast time at drag racing or track racing, basically ull be happy with the times but then when you add the weight back to the car itll be slow again i just dont see the point, why not arrive with the car in its road condition and get a good time for the car left as it ps the rear seats weight less than a feather, as said above the road noise gets louder i only remove my rear seats when im road tripping it across the pond but thats to get more luggage in
TTRickeh
The lighter my car is the better. It's my 2nd car anyway so it doesn't have to be that comfortable. I agree the bottom part of the back seats weigh next to nothing, but the upper part has to be close to 10KG's. You can't fit full sized people in the back with full sized people in the front anyway. Each to their own really, depends what you want from your car. Edit: If you do take your seats out it might be handy to remember to keep the bolt that holds the middle seat belts in as if you take it out there's miles more road noise. I think you can pretty much see the ground through that hole. Edited September 13, 2009 by TTRickeh (see edit history)

I don't know why people would want to remove the seats if they are not using the car for racing etc. They are part of the car afterall.
