APs / Brembos - why are Brembos so expensive?

The thing that would concern me about the Alcon or Hi-Spec's would be replacement pads for those fitments if it's uneconomical for those companies to have 'off the shelf' stock.

Wez, what are those funky two piece disks of yours?

No problems getting a whole raft of pad compounds that fit Alcon calipers. I consider them just as good as AP or Brembo calipers, and the company seem to have better stocking levels, and better re stocking turn around times than AP, who can be pitifully slow at times.

if Rick001 can get me a good discount on Alcon floating F3 discs and mounting hardware I'd be very happy, BTW ;) Need a full set of 4.

Drop me a PM Chris and i will see what the guys upstairs can do - also as an update to all, Alcon did do Supra kits allied to a company called 'GREX' but no more so we will have to re-engineer them but :)

im being told a kit including the following -

6 Piston Calipers

Disc assemblies

Caliper mounting brackets and bolts

Brake hoses

Brake fluid

Brake pads

Fitting instructions

Is looking around the £1800 mark ;) using my car as the donor - the only down side i see is the time frame which is likly to be 6-8 weeks lead time :( and a run of a minimum of 10 kits....

I have to speak to someone at the club in the first instance to see if i can arrange this for you guys so i will let you know - anyone know who i need to approach as a one off for my fellow members?

Hope im not in trouble ...

There's a member on here I know well called Sayed Shah, who has the "Grex" (Alcon) kit on a Soarer, which is, brake wise, the same thing. I did take some measurements and drawings, and it *MAY* be possible that Sayed would let me take a bracket off each end and measure the caliper piston sizes, so you could copy it....

Cheers

Are the callipers monoblock designs? If so, that would be a good deal.

Have to say though - Demon Tweeks are selling AP 6-pots (non-monoblock) for the same price, before asking for the club discount that Michael fixed for us...

Grex was a Trust (GReddy) brand name, the brake kits are still available for the Supra under the GReddy brand name.

There are also 8 pot caliper kits available for the Supra.

Greddy kit is made by Alcon. Lovely calipers, lovely discs. I think Alcon UK do offer a supra specific kit though, probably cheaper than buying the Greddy boxed stuff.

Correct, more expensive than the AP's 'tho. I have them on the Soarer, it brakes a little too well given the ABS isn't working!
