I would bet you've fouled up the plugs by running the motor mad rich, I'd put another set of plugs in it, unless you have a proper industrial plug cleaning machine to blast the ones in it now. Count up the hours and hassle, and tell me honestly that 25 quid spent having someone else fit it now seems expensive ;)

bought the plugs last week they should be arriving today at some point

if i change the plugs will this solve the problem....surely if it a problem with it running too lean then the plugs will just get damaged again?

yes it will solve the problem mate

So just the plugs fitted then thats it...if its starting then its sorted?

What is to stop it happening again with these new plugs....as these weren'tt he problem in the first place.

Don't mean to go on....but i'm finding it hard to get my head round how it won't just fire loads of fuel in again and ruin the plugs.

Cheers

yes mate it will fix it if it happens again, just clean your new plugs and fit again and it means your car is running too rich..

when are you fitting your plugs ??

Ordered a set of IK22's from Envy Performance on Tues 06/01 and still not recieved them...have phoned a couple of times but they.ve sent them already. Guy says he'll send out another set.

Will be fitting them as soon as I get them mate

how did you get on ???????????????

Fitted the plugs yesterday the old ones were absolutely soaking...its fired up and i held the revs at about 1500rpm to burn off some of the fuel. It was idling ok when it was warmed up.

Went back out a few hours later and it started up but then just died....would run if i kept my foot on accelerator.

Think it may be something else thats the problem....anyone any suggestions?

Take it to a professional, I had a car in recently the owner had spent over 500 quid on, trying "things" Diagnosed inside 10 minutes, total bill 100 quid. If you don't have the gear to find why it's overfuelling you will be in the same boat.

So just basically someone with diagnostic machine Chris?

Do you reckon it's overfuelling then?

How come it will idle ok when it has been revved for a bit thats what I don't understand?

Any garage competent with fairly modern FI systems should be able to fix it.

FI systems....is this a diagnostic machine mate?

Phoned a garage before and was told that they wouldn't be able to plug it in as it was too old...it's a 93 j-spec TT.

Should this cause a problem?

Can anyone recommend a garage in scotland they know which is good at this kind of stuff. I'm in ayrshire (30 miles from glasgow)
