marc_p
Niether until you get to 5th gear, then the 6 speed would be quicker as I believe the ratio's of 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th are the same.
Gaz6002
I think the 5 speed should have it if both power figures are identical.
Tom
hmmm maybe the question you should be asking is; whats slower? a tt6 converted to an n/a or tt6 speed converted to n/a and 5 speed
Dave17
Surely the extra gears gives it that little bit more after the 5 speed had redlined and the internals exploded all over the road.
Gaz6002
Surely the extra gears gives it that little bit more after the 5 speed had redlined and the internals exploded all over the road. But the 5 speed has less work to do (in a manner of speaking) to get to a higher speed. Unless you're talking top speed, which doesn't mean the car is "faster" in all situations, I'd say the 5 speed would have it due to the ratios. Homer
It would all depend if you changed the diff If not, the 6spd will be the quicker of the two in acceleration from the line and top end. The 5spd and 6spd gear ratio's are not the same at all, they are completely different boxes.
Gaz6002
It would all depend if you changed the diff If not, the 6spd will be the quicker of the two in acceleration from the line and top end. But you would, wouldn't you?!
Homer
But you would, wouldn't you?! Me? No, not yet, but it's on the list. The NA open diff is pants.
Gaz6002
Me? No, not yet, but it's on the list. The NA open diff is pants. That would be on my basic na/t swap... as you rightly say

Dazzi
Every manual TT is a 6 speed. You can only get 5 speed in NA's and those that went NA-TT of course. 5 speed Ratios (W58): * First Gear: 3.285:1 * Second Gear: 1.894:1 * Third Gear: 1.275:1 * Fourth Gear: 1.00:1 * Fifth Gear: 0.783:1 6 Speed Ratios (V160) * First gear: 3.830:1 * Second gear: 2.360:1 * Third gear: 1.680:1 * Fourth gear: 1.310:1 * Fifth gear: 1:1 * Sixth gear: 0.790:
