imi
Fantastic drive by Alonso and yet another major screwup by McLaren, why do they do this to themselves. Although I am a supporter of the team, sometimes I wonder whether they are worthy of my unquestioned support. Not sure about what exactly happened last year with Alonso and Mclaren - but I cant believe they let a driver of his caliber go. Hamilton is really really good, but also very inexperienced and under pressure this shows.

Alex
Hamilton should be renamed Homer... why why why!!!!! Bourdais has been given a 25sec penalty for being hit by a Ferrari...FFS...give Massa the WDC already All in a bad (stupidity strewn) race for the WDC but another great and deserved result for Alonso/Kubica. ivan
Oh my fcukin god! I just finished watching this and can't believe Hamilton made such a stupid rookie mistake at the first corner. I hate to say it, but he deserved the drive-through. But Bourdais getting a 25 sec penalty because of Massa's error? That's just ridiculous - FIA's Ferrari Damage Limitation Team at it's very best! With Jean Todt apparently going to the FIA next season they're going to be even more "balanced" in Ferrari's favour. But well done Alonso. A disruptive handful to manage, but one hell of a driver. Massa has been blaming Hamilton and Bourdais for the 2 incidents he was involved in. http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_4303251,00.html He's beginning to get that arrogant "he had no right being in my way" attitude that Schue was so hated for. Hobgoblin
Cracking performance by Alonso, I still believe he is the best of them. Not the greatest team player ever, and some might say a git, but he has driven the wheels off that Renault all season. And now my missus has to buy me a curry, for the 1st time in ages, we always have the same bet on who finishes 1st between Kimi and Lewis.

Lbm
News just in- Massa doesn't actually need to turn up for the two remaining races. He's been *assured* of sufficient points.

MASSA rams Hamilton, they both get a drive through, yes ok but Bourdais comes out of the pit lane, cant see the car behind him and MASSA tries to go on the outside and hits Bourdais?? But Bourdais is at fault?? Run that by me again?? It's a case of Ferrari Favouritsm AGAIN!!! I don't rate Massa at all, he's a careless driver who thinks he's the best as he drives the 'amazing Ferrari' Please!! I can see what's going to happen in the remaining 2 races here, Hamilton is going to get screwed over by the FIA and Ferrari for just putting a wheel over the grass!! It turns put as I was reading the paper today that actually most of the paddock, don't like Hamilton, hmm..wonder why that is??
creative
having just watched the highlights on the itv web page..... wasn't Hamilton in front when Massa hit him? I cant see that being a rookie mistake when Massa had gone wide and Hamilton took the opportunity to pass him. altho his first corner was a bit mad! MrRalphMan
That's what he got the penalty for, the first corner. Massa got his for hitting Lewis.
juanchan
Missed the race, but reading the comments on here and other websites makes my blood boil. One comment from the site Ken linked to made me laugh: PS - the stewards are so out to lunch it isn't funny. Leave them alone & LET THEM RACE. Everyone is afraid to do anything for fear of penalties now. "Hey, he just passed a car without waving hello. That's a drive through penalty". Massa isn't that great a driver. His car is way quicker than the rest of the pack, yet he doesn't perform with it. Look at how Alonso has had to deal with a massively inferior car all season, yet he remains humbly upbeat about the whole situation in the long run. I'll chip in a tenner to help raise a bribe for one of the Red Bulls to take Massa out when he laps them in the next race. If we get enough people chipping in, I'm sure it's achievable The Ferrari-IA have nailed their own coffin shut with regards to public relations by taking on Jean "Not-Ferrari-Biased-At-All" Todt as well. Here's to Hamilton, Kovalainen, Kubica and Alonso getting more points than the Ferraris from here on and into 09.

If we get enough people chipping in, I'm sure it's achievable A more sensible approach might be to bribe a team that isn't up there in the top 10, doesn't use Ferrari engines and doesn't seem to be doing all that well. If they have an inexperienced hot-head driver for you to use then it's even better. McLaren for example.

(Although Red Bull use Renault engines ) I'd love to see Williams do well again, so if the McLarens and Ferraris take each other out, that's fine by me Oh, and Renault can do well too, as a friend of mine works for them and they get a reasonable bonus for each win, so beers are on him after his next payday! tbourner
I can't see what he did wrong on the first corner to get a drive through? I only saw it once haven't seen any replays, looked like he went in a bit strong and locked up, they do it all the time, he went off and didn't gain a place (in fact he lost 4 places?), and on top of that he flatted his tyres and had to pit anyway, why the need to penalise him? Anyone got a link to a replay of the first corner?

tbourner
So, what did he do wrong? Haven't seen the Massa/Kubica incident yet either.
michael
So, what did he do wrong? You see that bit of road that kind of curves around to one side? Apparently it's called a corner and when you approach it you are supposed to turn the steering wheel and adjust your speed so that you can go around it. Old Mr Slow Start decided to go straight on with his brakes locked which effectively caused the most of the pack to take evasive action, the result of this was a few shunts further back and an assortment of cars using the run-off as racetrack in order to avoid the McLaren. They should have been sent to the pits with no supper or better still they should use the podium as a naughty step instead of giving drive through penalties.
