Thorin
I only got around to changing the address on mine from my Mum's house to our current address last year. I didn't give it a second thought and just posted it off with the new address on... Only to get a letter back saying they weren't going to give me my license back until I filled out a form and sent off a photo. I think I then went the best part of a year before I was actually arsed to do that.

Nodalmighty
I have to re-new mine every three years, due to being diabetic. I assume you must be Type 1 then. I'm type 2 and there was no mention of this. 2020 for me due to losing my wallet recently
Smallshinyant
If you look at the face of the card, its the date in section 4b. The pics have to renewed every 10years.

Smallshinyant
When will I be forced to get a picture license? Unless you change your name or address, you should be good upto the expiry date on your license.

garethr
[rant]Time was that it was assumed that you were who you said you were, until proved otherwise. Now, unless you have an official document with your photograph on it, it's assumed that you are a lying toerag who can't be trusted (to drive, to buy number plates, to open a bank account, to inherit your father's assets...). Over the last 15 years or so "the authorities" have changed the relationship between the citizen and the state, and we've accepted it because we are stupid enough to believe that it's being done to make us safer. Ark
I don't see the fuss - they send you the reminder and the form all in good time, so you won't forget.
