Sticking two fingers up

Just reading a thread on PH, to summerise someone posts a picture of the Fina Mclaren F1 race car. A Mr Bridger then says "wonderful car that is" with a wink. A purpetual troll pipes up with [paraphrasing] "F1's are shit, I'd buy a 962 if I wanted a race car".

A few pages of trolling later and Mr Bridger hits back with a picture that speaks a thousand words:

I was going to forgive you & say an apology was not needed, each to there own etc...BUT, i have just read your later post & now i cannot. When was the availability of a tow bar a prerequisite for a legendary race car (as the title of the thread says). I agree completely with the post from CVP (?) at the top of p5, as what he states is pretty much spot on, the only time the F1 could not keep up is when the opposition built homologation road car specials in order to beat the F1. Mr B.

NB/ gratuitous photo of the F1 as it is now with a 962 in the background, for no other reason than you mention a 962 in your post as an alternative...i prefer the F1 !....

That F1 is dream car stuff, well up the list for those "if I win a billion" type daydreams.

I think the poster above is right about the Fifth Gear thing, Tiff went to see if the F1 could be used as a daily driver.

Edit: Here were are...

That F1 looks amazing. What a great shape, for a new car nevermind a Supra-aged car.

He likes those NSXs doesn't he! :

Quote from Gordon: [4] "During this time, we were able to visit with Ayrton Senna (the late F1 Champion) and Honda's Tochigi Research Center. The visit related to the fact that at the time, McLaren's F1 Grand Prix cars were using Honda engines. Although it's true I had thought it would have been better to put a larger engine, the moment I drove the Honda NSX, all the benchmark cars--Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini--I had been using as references in the development of my car vanished from my mind. Of course the car we would create, the McLaren F1, needed to be faster than the NSX, but the NSX's ride quality and handling would become our new design target. Being a fan of Honda engines, I later went to Honda's Tochigi Research Center on two occasions and requested that they consider building for the McLaren F1 a 4.5 liter V10 or V12. I asked, I tried to persuade them, but in the end could not convince them to do it, and the McLaren F1 ended up equipped with a BMW engine."
