Jim_1979
I have a TT auto, BPU. I noticed more and more the past few days how easy it looses traction and just wheel spins like a crazy machine. Especially when the 2nd turbo kicks in. Is it down to the 19's or are these cars just bad for putting the power down?
tooquicktostop
Bad road conditions, poor tyres, heavy right foot, 350 BHP+ is a lot on damp roads, keep it progressive and you will have better traction, if you cant get RLTC
Whitesupraboy2
My rear spins up with 305 tyres when the tread is getting worn down and closer to the legal limit. New tyres on and its fine

Pig
RLTC or new tires.
Homer
The 19's won't help at all. What suspension do you have and has the geometry been set up by a proffesional tuner? What wheel size, offset, tyre size? All play a factor.
Jim_1979
Stock UK suspension. 275/35/19's on the rear. I was pulling away today, reasonably steady, but enough to get the 2nd turbo to kick in and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...... the tyres were spinning away. These things must be mad with crazy power! And the rest? The tyre size means nothing without knowing the other info. If you can check and let us know it might show any obvious issue before you start spending cash With correct wheels, tires, suspension setup and geo, they're very controllable, even with 500-600bhp. (so long as it's dry )
squiffy
i had the same problem when i got my tt. the rear tyres on it had plenty of tread but were just complete sh1t! i was following other members in the wet and could not physically keep up coming off of roundabouts due to wheelspin:taped: had a couple of goodyear f1's fitted and it was fine:) what make are the tyres? razza
I get this occassionally, but it's either down to damp roads, too heavy a foot, or worn tyres. Don't scrimp on not getting decent tyres, it's the only thing that keeps you on the road as you're finding out.... Take it easy when not dry;)
Keith C
A poor tyre/wheel/offset can make a massive difference. My first MK4 had about the same power as my current one, but due to bad wheel choices would spin up the wheels at the drop of a hat. With the stock wheels my current one takes some serious provoking to unstick.
Tricky-Ricky
Apart from geometry, poor tyres, i personally think a lot of people just need to be in better control of their right foot;)
Chris Wilson
Traction on 19 inch rims is appalling IMO. The tyre profile is far too low and the Supra IRS is too crude to keep the tread flat to the road, which an ultra low profile tyre needs.
Thorin
Tyre size is wrong also, should be a 30 profile on 19's to keep rolling radius as close to stock as possible... which would help traction even less.
razza
correct, 275/30/19;)
Soop Dogg
Second turbo comes in @4k rpm. And you were revving this high when pulling away??
Guest DevilsAdvocate
Just get RedM to sit in the back, should sort the traction problems out OK. Roy Mods do have their uses then:D
miko_supra
Second turbo comes in @4k rpm. And you were revving this high when pulling away?? I think what he means is that he set off and then floored it in first gear. Not revved it to 4k and dumped the clutch
