JustGav
After the passing of Apollo, the house has just not seem right and so empty.. So we started making contact with the german rescue centres... We decided that the right dog would find us. As it happens it took place a lot quicker than we expect. After a house visit today we were given the goahead. Mel picked me up from the office and off we drove to Northampton to meet this dog. It was almost heartbreaking when we got there, not because of conditions or anything far from it. The older couple love the dog very much but are just not able to manage her and health. It was breaking their hearts to put her on the register. We all spent a good 30 minutes talking and you could hear the sadness. Once we had passed the 'interview' because I do believe they were looking for the right people in the same way we were looking for the right dog. We have agreed to stay in contact, and pop in now and again when we visit my parents. She is 20 months old, and has lovely hips and a fantastic personality. I can't do anything but praise Geoff and Julia for the wonders they have done considering she had not had a good puppyhood. She had been kept in a small kennel and kicked around a bit, but you wouldn't know that now. She has had an instant bond with the kids, not frightened of loud noises, and generally very attentive. She is fascinated by the cats, even though Bud smacked her one on the nose... She isn't a replacement for Apollo, but rather a new addition with a different personality. juanchan
She's looks fantastic Gav As you say, she'll never replace Apollo, but she'll definitely bring her own personality to the fold. The first pic really does show GSDs at their best too - attentive, friendly and eager to be part of the action

She does walk well, does do sudden stops to sniff lamp posts etc. She is a bit of poser so there will be plenty of photos.

Their current male, Jake, is practically unwalkable as he sniffs at something every foot or so They've got a hefty garden though, so stick throwing is his main exercise I think! And we always like pictures on here, so the more the merrier
juanchan
Sweet looking dog. One question... why did you mention that she has lovely hips... GSDs are reknowned for weak hips. We thought my parents first had weak hips towards the end, but it turned out to be cancer
JustGav
Sweet looking dog. One question... why did you mention that she has lovely hips... GSD's suffer badly from hip problems...probably as a result of too much controlled breeding Thankfully Apollo didn't suffer with this, nor did my previous GSD called Blade.
