Godmutha
.... or work at BAE Warton or nearby? I have just been offered a job there.... and need to relocate pretty quick, so any advice about the area etc would be grately appreciated.
Kranz
Used to live near there.... always remember passing as a kid and seeing all the Canberras parked up. Lytham StAnnes is ok in parts (but the beach is all mud!). Avoid Blackpool, my dad lives there and its all stag & hen nights, fights, drunks & drugs. Animal
There's quite a few of us around Preston. It's not too bad a place on the whole, a couple of rough estates to avoid. Not sure what house prices are like, but I'm sure the others will be here to give you more info. I've a few mates work at Warton and it seems a reasonably good place to be. Pete
I used to live at Freckleton (next door) as a kid. Here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=freckleton&ie=UTF8&ll=53.756567,-2.859439&spn=0.000886,0.001861&t=h&z=19&om=0 Nice place. I used to watch the jets coming in at the runway through the wire and across the marsh. Kirkham is ok too.
Animal
The Callan estate is the worst I think - a typically blighted council estate. Parts of Tanterton used to be no-go areas too, but I think that area has gotten better recently. Ingol and Ashton are okay - the gf has lived around these areas for years and I've never had any problems (although I do tend to ignore most of the outside world)
Matt H
I'll give you a call in at bit Lucy, after i get back from skiiing, i worked there, and bought a house there.... In a nut shell, try and get somewhere on the outskirts, Bamber Bridge is nice and the prices are reasonable (having said that someone got stabbed at a pub there other week )
Matt H
P.s, there are alot of sh*t areas to aviod, discuss later
garetheves
If you are working at BAE you may be better buying around Freckleton, Lythmn, St Annes if you can afford it. Much nicer place to live and not as much of a commute. Failing that, some parts of Ashton are very nice and thats probably the closet part of preston to where you will be working. Godmutha
Thanks guys. Are all areas in Lytham nice enough then? Or anywhere to avoid there?
Pixelfill
Really depends on your budget, there are some really nice areas around Warton. The nice areas of Ashton are handy 8 miles to Warton, and easy to get into Preston. Mike

steb9780
I work at Samlesbury. As people have said there are nice places like Lytham, St.Annes, Freckleton, Warton itself to live but they all come at a price. I live in Ribbleton which is a bit rough in parts but I was brought up on one of the rough estates (Holme Slack), so it doesn't bother me. Avoid Callon unless you want to be front page news getting shot, aslo places like Moor Nook, Brookfield, Savick (Mike's turf ) I would recommend places like Bamber bridge, Lostock Hall, Penwortham, Fulwood and Grimsargh/Longridge. The latter 3 will get you less house for your notes but are very nice areas, I will be looking to move to places like these in a few years hopefully. But these areas are at the other side of Preston to Warton, so the commute would be a bit longer (around 20 minutes to 30) on main roads etc.
Pixelfill
For nice areas the "right" side of Preston look at Fulwood (be careful with estate agents moving Fulwoods boundaries into Ribbleton) Cottam, Ashton (the nicer areas are easy to spot) then out to Newton, Wesham, Kirkham, Freckleton. And the budget eaters Treales & Wrea Green. Mike
