  1. yup but according to Toyota it is not the wheel bearing or nut because I asked them specifically to assess the noise. They took everything apart and put it back together again. They say it is the suspension bottoming out. I spoke to Tein this morning. They have asked me to take 1 wheel off the front and rear (shocks are different) and phone them back with: 1. the stamp/reference on the dampers (to determine the type) 2. the stamp/reference on the springs (to determine the type) Apparently many in Japan didnt follow manufacturer instructions and mixed and matched inappropriate dampers with springs - hopefully it is a case of just replacing the current springs with the correct ones. Find a local Tein dealer (or whatever you have on) who can do the fitting for you and help with the assessment. The dealer will then deal with Tein (or whoever on your behalf). Ta, D
  2. not the wheel bearing is it. when i jacked up the rears, I noticed that when i got the wheel nuts as tight as possible, I could rock one wheel back and forth yet the other side was holding steady. have you tried doing up the thread nut tighter or considered it might be a bearing? failing that - possible replacement drop links? I guessed and changed the drop links but that didnt work. then I tried the thread nut but that was tight, then thought it might be the bearings but Toyota checked it out and send my suspension springs werent being given enough room to flex...now I'm in limbo!
  3. hey just an interesting fact... specific gravity of bone is about 1.9, sg of muscle is about 1.1, and that of fat is 0.9 - in other words, fat being less than water (which is the benchmark 1), that explains why fat people float and need a much heavier 'weight belt' when scuba diving.
  4. huh so you did the big heave ho and it didnt work - now whats the plan?
  5. aye - CJ would dawn french do?
  6. thanks chaps - what about fitment - can you do this yourself? possibly get them second hand if poss cos that would save a little more. if my fronts are ok I might just change the rear teins.
  7. why replace? - could you not just change the springs or raise em to allow more bounce? im a suspension newb tryin' to avoid shelling out yet more £££!
  8. evening all, I need help! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced suspension thud. My Teins are lower on the front than the back and yet the noise is emerging from the rears when I go over bumps. I guess I need to raise the suspension with a C-Spanner? Anyone know what size and where I can get one??? Just wondering if anyone else had this problem. I've had it thudding since I imported it so wanna get it sorted now. I dont wanna spend money getting em refurbed when alls I need to do is raise em a lil. Thanks, D
  9. lots of views but not everyone has a wallet to match the dream! need to win sommit big!
  10. mine just coming off charge now eheh
  11. they all click - this is where you are turning the key for the solenoid to turn the bigger starter motor - with no umph in the batt the solenoid simply clicks in and out. sounds like a common issue with soops and batts!
  12. fur - if one of you guys are genuinely interested i'd prefer to skip all the timewasters and appointments and we can work something out. im off on hols for 2 weeks at the start of October. least i know it'll go to a good home!
  13. thanks for the nice words guys - yea one of my best lines 'not a grey import' (even makes me laugh!)
  14. mileage. well im gonna come clean in the name of what mileage actually is - my work car is a 1993 vauxhall cavalier - it has 170,000 miles on it and still i drive it 100mph cruising up and down the M40. My next door neighbour has a 96 Vauxhall Astra Estate and that has 320,000 miles on there. My bro's Audi A6 has 160,000 miles on the clock. time to wake up to the modern era of engines - go forever!

  16. Hello! Just a quickie to point out my 98 Turbo is on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/98-S-Toyota-Supra-MKIV-VVTi-Twin-Turbo_W0QQitemZ4576464721QQcategoryZ18290QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Take it easy, D
  17. good point. just dont try cooking up any clever schemes when yer doing it tho'!
  18. Dude, just take it to your local main Toyota dealer - they are competent enough to do a full checkup but probably wouldnt do all of the work. Take it from me, taking the hit right now is the way forward rather than guessing the various remedies and losing many weekends in the future! They could change cambelts etc...
  19. yep he was a big fan of Bilsteins - he said he threw TEINs out by the bucket load and doesnt rate them at all. I think thats true with the older ones as Nic points out - so be careful. The UK Sup has Bilsteins and they feel awesome.
  20. yea defo - its a shame - im absolutely lost for words. The guy is a true con artist, and lets be fair, him and his bunch of idiot mates arent even subtle or smart enough to pull it off. bet they sit at home w....ing off in front of the tv all day thinking up their next clever scheme!
  21. actually a big C spanner might work to try and raise it - anyone know the size or is it different on all shocks? ta
  22. will bear in mind once i get the diagnosis
  23. prolly got his mates bidding on it for him...
