  1. ok i did some digging today and everyone the world and his mate agreed changing the shells is a no go not unless i want to sell the car and con someone as it just wont last, i cant be assed with engine swap affair so it looks like its going into a well establshed and long known engine shop to get the bottom end fixed be it a regrind or a new crank, i have actually negotiated a fair price for the work and just need to get a few more things checked out and then it looks like its going in, the guy knows his soops and has worked on em since they where built, hes also going to do valve stem oil seals while hes got it and check all the shimms on the cams, in fact it will get a major overhaul all warrantied etc too, then it may be ok till i blow summet else up lol, cheers for the help guys but it looks like this will be my choice as its far to good to sit on the path and im asured the engine should be ok for another 100k
  2. right guys im not doing to well in my search for a replacement uk spec motor as yet although im still looking so anyone got an idea of anywhere local to the wirral that i can drive my car in and drive it out when its fixed also what will this likely cost me? anyone out there wishing to do it pm a price if you like although i have a feeling i may just have to drive it to destruction then scrap it, seems a shame really as it drives so well and only rattles on idle and has only done 3 miles with the rattle, boo hoo i just cant be doing with taking the lump out, ordering bits and having the car inbits all over the place here its just to much hassle to cart around, and just changing shells will be a bad idea too see here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=61088&highlight=big+ends

  4. ffs hadyn dood i didnt know , sorry to hear it mate and hold out with the insurance they will get nearer than 2k and change, liv vic agreed mine at 7k with 2k on top for the wheels and mines a 94 auto 2
  5. no its not bad it only does it on tickover and when first started
  6. cheers chris oil was fine i changed it a week ago no sighn of det and no overheating but thinking about it when you had it in im sure you said there was grumble on start up from the bottom end that was a few thousand miles ago oh well looks like i will look for an engine although i dont hold out much hope if someone wants a mint knocking soop let me know lol
  7. so its not really to difficult to access as like i said i can get the car up to about 6ft 6" in the air easy enough, in my mates garage ok next question is where do ya get big end shells from apart from mr t and are they all the same j spec and uk spec??
  8. oh well if it turns out to be a ball ache to get it off i will just sell the thing i aint spending shed loads of money on it, damn thing drives great too but i know if a do drive it i may and likely will kill it, i guess i will know at or by the weekend
  9. foooking great i decatted had all the paint work done and today while driving at a leisurly 40 mph i hear an odd sound , stops the car and listens to a low grumble , which is actually a knocking sound, popped into the local engine place and low and behold as i thought the it appears the big ends have gone or at least a shell has gone as i caught it straight away it should be ok if its a shell, so my question is can these be done with the engine in and where do i get a set of shells for uk spec auto,and any idea on price. it may be far more sinister than this even though the car still drove fine till i parked it so as not to do any damage? if its an engine out then i may well be selling a now mint supra with a knocking bottom end as i dont think i can be bothered with all the hassle of taking the motor out i may be wrong and it may be something else but the first job is to get a look in there, so can i get the sump off easy enough to see , i have a car lift available so access wont be a problem

  11. auto and at just under 1 bar no sign of fuel cut ive been there and played that game on my 200sx its not nice although my bros was fine at higher boost i will soon see lol
  12. martin it sounds exactly the same lmao, the only diff is i can hear turbo 1 coming on line . i just went to local exhaust place and they charged me a tenner to swap it, so it wasnt worth getting my paws dirty i would have had to buy the exhaust paste if i did it myself lol, now i have reset the ecu it does make a big diffrence just going to up the boost today if i get amin in work, cheers for the pipe and cya soon at mascrat i hope, and my car got dirty on the nasty m53 lol
  13. hey thats the same valve i got so i just cut the hose to the actuator(the red 1) and shove it in there
  14. where does pipe 1 go and where does pipe 2 go and more to the point when the valve is blocked you get more boost? when its open you get normal boost? and which way does the air travel down 1 or 2 so i get the direction right
  15. cheers carlos but it dont really help, i dont know why i cant get my head around this ive never had any probs before with anything mechanical, i just cant see how the damn thing plumbs in and more to the point how it works lol
  16. ok ecu reset and now it goes some lol its doing 0.9 bar seem about right without a boost controller??

  18. well its done i fitted my shiny new de ct pipe to replace both cats on my uk spec, the turbos spool faster but no increase in boost really. anyone got apic of a manual boost controller fitted in situ so i can raise the boost up , i have a bleed valve here but it isnt the 1 with ball and spring in its just a pin that tightens and seals the valve,i dont think its will do the job although someone may no diffrent
  19. software latest is 5.21 and the latest map is v6.2 there ya go
  20. well the mbc landed today and guess what i got the wrong 1 lol i looked at 2 on ebay and the 1 i got isnt the 1 with the spring and ball in it so i guess it wont work its more of a open a bit and the air passses through it kind of valve grrrrrrrrrr unless someone knows if it will be ok ???

  22. i dont quite understand the sketch i asume where the arrow point there is another hose this is the 1 i cut then it is a manual bleed valve it looks like the 1 you have drawn ill take a peep when it arrives 1 more question , the max boost i want to see is ????? thanks

  24. sorry to bring up an old thread but as anyone actually got a pic of a manual bleed valve in situ so i can plumb mine in the same, i cant seem to follow some of these pics and info about cutting here and there, i need a pic of the t piece in place showing where it goes and what else needs diconnecting etc damn thing it was simple on my nissan with pics
