  1. My old escort did a very similar thing. Was driving through Glasgow one night (car had started fine) when headlights and gauges dimmed. Managed to coast round a corner where the car died. After being left for ten minutes or so it started again but ran for less than a minute before cutting out. Was definately the alternator as ran perfectly once I'd changed it. Fuel gauge would have dropped due to lack of voltage and alarm gone off with its battery back up because it would have thought someone was tampering with it when it sensed the voltage drop.
  2. I've got a Pioneer DEH-P8600MP thats looks really good (I'd post some pics if I knew how). It's got the downloadable video function too (in colour). The blue rings round the dials also really match the blue LED dash conversion. I paid £280 http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=7528&taxonomy_id=25-121
  3. Has anyone got M1 VTT (M1V TT)? That would be cool!
  4. Give Direct Choice a buzz too. I'm "only" paying £530 fully comp at 24 with 3 points and 4 yrs NCD for Jap TT. 0870 1221 102
  5. Me too :thumbdown Be up soon though!
  6. Don't get me started on the o2 website!!! Just pray you never have to change your direct debit details!!
  7. I got quoted over £200 to get my odo clocked back to the equivalent in miles so I just connected the converter so the speedo reads in miles but the odo stays in kms.

    LED Link

Help, I've just ordered all the stuff I need to do the blue LED dash conversion and the link on how to do it has gone! (http://www.internetwork.org.uk/led.htm) Does anyone have this saved or know where else it is on the web?!
  10. Will do! I've got a few things going for me (need SDP only, no claims ever, live in the sticks) but will be reading the small print very closely. My renewal with elephant was £640 so it's not a million miles away.
  11. Yep, stressed several times it's an import. She read it back to me as a 94 Twin Turbo RZ too so it must be down as a MIV!
  12. Does anyone have insurance with these guys? They've just quoted me £530 for a 12 month fully comp policy which I think is pretty good considering I'm "only" 24! Don't want to go with them if they're a PITA to deal with should I need to claim though.
  13. I'm confused! Whats a load of crap and what assumptions have I made? I tried to point out in my last post that I don't think dalmations and setters have low intelligence, just that they're very hyper and over-excitable (traits that the general public class as being stupid). Personally, they're two of my favourite breeds, I think they make great pets and certainly wouldn't brandish them (or any other breed) "problems". I also tried to point out that it could be because of their size, and the ability they have to cause more damage in the home that it gets mentioned more. Of course any type of dog can cause problems if it's suddenly left alone for long periods of time with no acclimatisation, just as any breed can turn vicious out of the blue. As you say, boredom or stress is almost always the cause of destructive behaviour and is seen across all species, just look at the chewed stabled doors with horses and repetative behaviour by animals in zoos. Cheers for the personal slagging though.
  14. a) I'm sorry, but when you work with all breeds of dog every day you get to know which ones are less sensible than others, and I think if you ask any vet, dalmations and red setters are near the top. I put stupid in inverted commas as I didn't mean "thick", but hyper and overexcitable. b) I didn't say they destroy the house because they're stupid. I said, I hear from owners with these breeds that have problems with this. This could well be because these breeds, being larger, have the potential to cause more damage than others and therefore it's more of an issue.
  15. Sorry, must have missed that one!
  16. Well you could be right! You wouldn't believe some of the idiots you get in, some woman last week thought her dog had a tumour in its mouth that turned out to be a red wine gum stuck to it's teeth.
  17. I'm a vet so see countless people a week with dog related problems!
  18. Quite right. Most dogs are fine to be left at home as long as you can nip home at lunch time to let them out but I hear from a lot of clients that have problems with the more "stupid" breeds like dalmations and setters destroying the house if left alone. Getting younger pups used to being by themselves for increasing lengths of time is the key. Leaving the radio on can help too.
  19. Really sorry mate, hotmails stuck it in junk for some reason!
  20. I still desperately need a ECU for a 94 Import twin turbo six speed manual! The car is stranded at a garage 100 miles away with the guy having to physically push it in and out each day. If any one can help can you PM me asap The part numbers are as follows: 2JZGT MT 88, Toyota No. 8966114501, Denso No. 1757006001 Terry, if you've got one can you please, please get back to me! Cheers Steve
  21. I'm lucky enough to have a Vauxhall Vectra diesel estate with 110k on the clock (its a company car!) Got a Kawasaki ZX-7R too though, for sale now if anyones interested!!
  22. I've done karate for years because I was lucky to find a good adult only class where the instructor was fairly "old school" and focused very much on practical techniques. In this situation karate is an excellent martial art but unfortunately the majority of other clubs are pretty much useless in terms of being able to actually fight and are usually full of kids. For general fitness and very showy moves then TKD and Kung Fu and it's branches are great. I've done a bit of work in Wushu with various weapon forms which is a good laugh but completely unpractical. Your flexibility also needs to be very good for both, more so than other martial arts. If you want to win fights in the street or the pub you've got to look at ju-jitsu, ninjitsu or jeet kune do, all of which can be fairly brutal. Personally (and I'll probably get slated for this) but I've never rated Thai Boxing as there's far less technique, or Judo because its just glorified wrestling - although most fights end up on the ground so its got its uses. Oh and don't do kempo, thats for grandpas.
