  1. I'm going to ask for details of their Change Management processes!
  2. I'd pretty much decided on Fasthost but in light of SupraJames' experience I will have a rethink. Outages on load balancing servers shouldn't present a problem with service availability and DNS is hard to get wrong if you know what you are doing. Maybe it's poor Change Control (guess what I do for a living).
  3. I'd found dataflame and that looks attractive. I'll check out fasthosts and I've also PM'd Lewis. Many thanks for the replies.
  4. Any recommendations for a web hosting company? I’m not too fussed about disk space or bandwidth but they must provide Perl and MySQL – and have seriously fast servers. I’m looking at processing SQL queries that will involve a complex statement interrogating about 20,000 records each with approx 50 fields. These will be real-time queries so no slouchy servers will do!
  5. Good to hear that you have an opportunity after all. All managers in 'people companies' have to speak the same nonsense these days. I work for a large nondescript IT services company which employs hoards of earnest HR clones ensuring that we meet our 'Investors in People' obligations etc... Phew, got off my soapbox just in time!
  6. Have a word with your store manager and personnel manager to find out what was communicated about the role beforehand. If they knew that the role was a reduction from your current status then why did no-one tell you? Sounds to me like one of four things: 1/ He was trying it on to see if you would work for him for a reduced salary - he has to keep his costs down. 2/ He decided halfway through the interview that he didn't like you but expectations had already been set and he wanted a way out. 3/ You are a known troublemaker and they thought that you would make a fuss if you didn't get an interview! 4/ Your management are incompetent. Highly unlikely option, speaking as a manager myself you understand. You should be able to get some feedback about the interview – particularly from Personnel. They love all that ‘career development’ cobblers. Ask them for assistance so that you can identify your weak areas. Part of your personal development plan etc.
  7. Would you? If people stopped to think about the extent to which the welfare state has gone mad there would be riots in the streets. I don't think people realise how much tax they really pay (not just income tax and NI) and how little they get back for it. Funding legions of civil servants handing out my money to scroungers isn't something I like to think about too much.
  8. I have pretty much decided on an Apexi N1 with the ATS insert and maybe the ECV. I'm wondering whether to compliment this setup with another muffler in the mid section of the system but I've run into something of a brick wall as there really doesn't seem to be much discussion on this one. Searching the www seems to come up with Flowmaster and Borla and that's about it. What have other people done for extra mufflers, if anything?
  9. Sueing them doesn't help as the staff who made the errors aren't directly affected, only the overall budget suffers. NHS hospitals are effectively above the law because you have no meaningful redress against the culprits. They are also the only bodies who are openly rewarded for failure - whenever they arse something up they scream "not enough funds" and get more taxpayers dosh. Strange that the near doubling of their funding (in real terms) since 1997 seems to have gone mainly on pay rises and more administrators. There are now fewer medical staff and hospital beds than ten years ago.
  10. I'll have a play at the weekend and report back.
  11. I’ve noticed that I’m running a bit leaner on throttle increase than on steady throttle. The difference is quite surprising. I’ve been doing my mapping on steady throttle and that’s not a problem (at last) but watching the AFRs fluctuating when I roll on the throttle is a little disconcerting. I’m on the Emanage Gold functionality now (v1.49) so I get the acceleration map function (see pic). Anyone played with this? Fancy saving me lots of time with some tips? Ta.
  12. I went to see Turbofit on Saturday and they estimated a much better price. That is based on me supplying my own silencers. As it happens, I have a Supra Blitz Nur-Spec sitting in the corner so it seems to make sense to chop that up and use the bits for a custom jobbie for the Soarer. I don’t want to upset the neighbours though. I’ve checked out the threads on the Apexi ECV and also the Blitz baffle (http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-115.aspx). I’m leaning towards the Apexi. Some of the older threads say things like “I’m thinking of buying one of these”. Anyone done so? Impressions? NB It did occur to me to try to flog the Nur-Spec but it’s well used and has seen a few speed humps by the look of it.
  13. I was hoping to avoid the cost of a DLI. I was thinking of gapping down the plugs at the weekend. Currently on BKR7E at .6mm. They're brand new btw.
  14. You replaced the loom as well Joe? I'm suffering the same problem now. I've replaced the coil packs and I'll be doing IanC's connecter refurb this weekend as well as adding some insulation to them. I understand that the loom is a costly piece of kit.
  15. They seem to be so popular that they haven't got time to respond to email.
  16. I took the car to them to check out and asked for a quote. They want £650+VAT for a 3 inch single pipe system plus backbox. This seems a bit steep to me. Should I expect to pay that much?
  17. Isn't this what the Trader Rating under your avatar is for?
  18. And just in case any smartipants doesn't believe that I took the wastegate off, here's a pic.
  19. Having obtained the necessary hose tails for the HKS wastegate, I had it off the car last weekend to fit them and to connect the hoses. I took the boost reference from the only available point on my system (between the compressor and the intercooler) and that all works fine. Wastegate opens at about 11 psi, tragically. Next step is to re-connect the DSBC. The piccy from the instructions (below) shows two take-off points for boost but I only have one (none on the compressor housing). I'm thinking that all I need to do is shove a T into the boost reference and plumb that to the 'IN' port on the Blitz solonoid. It's only pressure after all (famous last words). Anyone agree/disagree?
  20. Sorry to hear that Syed. Commiserations.
  21. Sounds good to me. I was going to look at chopping some scale off the top of the map but I don't see any reason not to chop it off the bottom as well. If they both work then I'll be able to spread things out nicely, particularly in the peak torque area. Nice.
  22. I know, I'm not explaining myself very clearly. I was trying to refer to pressure sensor voltages greater than the highest value that you may have set in the map.
  23. Yes I believe it does, but if the range between each cell equates to 3 psi then it's interpolating across that entire range. The 'start' and 'end' points of the interpolation are the values that you put into the cells so everything between that is just an extrapolation of the values that you have set. My point was that an extrapolation across a 3psi range lacks resolution.
