  1. Expanding on my original question slightly, I’m having trouble finding out the flow rate for ATF on the A340 trans. I can calculate this for coolant or engine oil because I know the GPH of the pumps and the capacity of the systems, but while I know the capacity of the trans I don’t know how long it takes to complete one ‘circulation’ (yes, I know that’s an over-simplification) of the system. Does anyone know (not guess) what the flow rate for these transmissions is? Just to keep things on-topic, I already have a temp gauge and an auxiliary Hayden cooler so I’m not asking a generic question about trans cooling, I need specific info about the flow rate. Thanks.
  2. Ta. That's just the kind of info that I need. Practical experience rather than speculation. Excellent.
  3. What temp differences did you see between ducted and non-ducted coolers?
  4. Does anyone have experience of the relative merits of the different trans cooler types? I've nicked three pics off Ebay to illustrate bar/plate, tube/fin and an aluminium 'block' design. I'm wondering about heat dissipation, ATF flow rates, airflow restriction etc.
  5. PM'd. £350 and I'll pay the P+P.
  6. Your torque converter (on a auto) is the fluid coupling that transfers power from the engine to the trans. They are manufactured to fully engage (or near enough) at a certain rpm but it's usually quite low. This one engages at a higher rpm allowing you to waz up the revs before taking off. A bit like slipping the clutch on a manual. Anyone disagree with that?
  7. I'm not in that much of a hurry to sell! I'm just looking to get back what it cost me.
  8. You get software with it? Or is that only if you have the AEM ECU software?
  9. Has anyone got a PDF or similar copy of the instructions for the AEM Wideband Gauge/Controller? Does it have a table of volts/AFRs?
  10. I think you may be right. I was looking at other guy's maps when I couldn't see anything happening at 4,000rpm but they have nowhere near my mods. One other guy has (in Australia) and his map shows quite a bump in that area. Thanks for replying both of you.
  11. It happens consistently around the 4,000rpm area. A couple of examples from this morning attached. Those increases in duty cycle represent a drop in AFRs from low-mid 12's to Incidentally, it's a 1JZ ECU but that should be simpler than the 2JZ (no sequential turbos).
  12. What exactly do Greddy mean when they refer to “Normal injector duration”? I was under the impression that it was the value that the Emanage had intercepted on its way from the ECU to the injectors, before altering it. I’m trying to work out why my AFRs are going way rich (off the scale) between two tenth-second intervals in the .LGD log. In this interval the RPMs change by 13, TP by 1%, Airflow Meter Input by .003v and Greddy Sensor input by .034v. No significant changes there, but the “Normal injector duration” value jumps from 5.7msec (18% duty cycle) to 7.5msec (24% duty cycle). In theory the contents of my Emanage map shouldn’t make any difference to this “Normal injector duration” should they? I’m in open loop so values returned from the oxy sensor shouldn’t figure in the equation and the ECU should be running on its own internal maps. I can’t believe that the ECU is expecting something so interesting to happen at one point in the rev range that it needs to throw fuel at it like that. Certainly, nothing interesting happens on the Soarer in the areas I’m looking at (no second turbos spooling etc.) It was suggested recently that I should lose my HKS FCD due to voltage fudging but I have seen the alteration curve for this kit and there is nothing dramatic enough to cause the problem that I’m having. Any ideas?
  13. Oops, sorry. Someone has already started a thread about it.
  14. Does anyone know anything about this? http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/search.php?do=getnew
  15. I've just had a play and I can't see a way of doing this. Do you have a reason for not wanting to do it this way? Just interested you understand.
  16. I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks.
  17. The MOT is due in a month and I'd like to know beforehand whether my DIY mapping is going to pass the emissions part of the test. Does anyone know of a place in Kent or the South East where I can take the car, test the emissions and then play with the map until said emissions are acceptable if necessary? Strangely, Toyota/Lexus in Tunbridge don't want to know! Spoilsports.
  18. Never heard of anyone doing it but I don't see any reason why not. The relevant dimensions must be the same for the kit to work on my car.
  19. Yes, I use all MKIV Supra struts and springs on my JZZ30 Soarer. Obviously this doesn't apply if you have the UZZ31 or UZZ32 models. You would also want to make sure that you aren't putting TEMS struts on a non-TEMS car.
  20. They have the "democratic" system sown up so whoever you vote for the same broad policies will be pursued. They are the Council's own policies and they don't care what the electorate think. We are just cows to be milked. This is only going to get worse until we physically drag them out of their Council offices and string them up from lamp posts.
  21. If politicians really believed that the world was going to boil as a result of emissions they wouldn’t hesitate to immediately implement draconian laws to tackle the cause. They are quite happy to enact laws curtailing our freedoms on much less serious issues and I don’t think they would hesitate if something were going to happen which would affect them or their children directly. They levy “environmental” taxes instead. For me, any time a government uses a tax to ‘resolve’ a problem it tells me that they aren’t really concerned about the issue but are just using (and fuelling) public hysteria as an excuse to increase their own power and resources.
  22. Just in case this is of interest to anyone, I sent emails to Dataflame and fasthosts asking the same question to see how long they would take to respond. Dataflame answered my question within 30 minutes. Fasthosts have not responded after 13 hours. That's the clincher for me.
  23. Aren't they required to notify you of intended prosecution within 14 days?
