  1. Yeah was good chattin with you too m8. Well to confess, I actually blindly followed u down that exit too as we was already in wrong lane on roundabout before we'd realised where u was heading... but don't tell anyone We quickly turned round in that hotel carpark just after the roundabout, we thought you must be going a different way home or something. Swiftly? Me? With my reputation? lol I'm looking forward to that video footage too, wiggled the backend at you Ray hehe oh and I was only kidding about the veilside kits, they don't stick out that much its just my poor carpark skills excuse live on vid
  2. Great meet, thumbs upto Ray for top organising which made the day nice and smooth Good location and the pub meal after was spot on as well.

  4. So how does something like the MVP airbox/filter combo fair in all this? Obviously its more bling than the OE box but it still uses the existing air intakes while shielding the cone. So you'll get the sound and looks of an induction kit without hopefully as much heat, but will the shielding be as good? Would this be a better solution if you really wanted the looks/sound without too much of a problem? http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/merchant/catalogpics/mk4/gary/pic05.jpg
  5. Fine by me, 10.30 @ the services it is then Cya there guys.
  6. Bit like most imports then lol Mines in the 60's too, fully documented (in English ) That looks and sounds like a dog though.
  7. Will do m8, it better help otherwise fitting a Nur and second decat looses you 'peak' power instead of giving any and I don't believe that for a second
  8. Good to hear m8, they've not let me down yet
  9. 10. I see your point Ian but the stock exhaust looked restrictive enough and loosing a cat has gota be a good thing right? Also why the big increase on the stock boost run then after the exhaust/decat? (red line second graphs compared to green on first graphs). Especially the torque curve.
  11. Cheers Ian, but surely I should be expecting a GAIN from adding a Nur spec R and a second decat... maybe not loads but still defo not a 13bhp loss and even the same as before would still be disapointing. I thought the general idea was that exhausts gave good gains on the TT supra?? I think the missing sensor must have had an effect on the dyno run if this is the case. Besides it shows a small gain (20bhp peak and more torque over a better spread) on the stock boost run so there must be a difference in these circumstances between the fuelings effect from 0.8 bar to the run at 1.2 bar where it lost instead.
  12. Cheers Chris, I take it you've seen these issues before then. Maybe I should have listened to my cautious side and looked into the issue more, and got one of your pipes by the looks of it as you do them with the flange ready fitted doh! Ain't hindsight wonderfull Not to worry, getting one fitted will sort it then and I should see the gains I was expecting. Oh well gives me an excuse to go back and get that 1st CAT out Might be worth while Envy guys if your read this to start having the flange fitted to your UK pipes like Chris's, to make it easier come fitting time.
  13. I must have posted in the wrong section, heres me thinking this was the technical section No one got any thoughts on this one, for or against the conclusion we came too? Friday night though, bet everyones on the like I should be lol
  14. Hi everyone, bit of tech help needed please Long post alert! On the Thor dyno day back in November I ran my UK auto TT and it was stock apart from the boost controller (and required BCC/plugs ofcourse!) including the stock exhaust and both CATs still in place. I got the following graphs: http://www.boostman.plus.com/Thor/first%20session/BHP.Torque.jpg http://www.boostman.plus.com/Thor/first%20session/Torque.AFR.jpg Red line = controller off (less than stock boost) Green = 0.8 Pink = 1.1 ish Blue = 1.2 bar Which I was happy with to say it was only from a boost increase. Then the last month my Nur arrived and I ordered an Envy (2nd) decat pipe, it said it was for a UK model but didn't have the o2 sensor flange (I was told this prior to the order being confirmed so no complaints there) Now I'd heard different things about this, some said the second o2 sensor didn't matter, others said it did and that it would cause fueling issues by running rich. I thought that maybe this was people being a little on the cautious side so I went ahead with it to see. Took the Nur and the decat down to Thor who fitted it and did another dyno run to see the result. These are the graphs: http://www.boostman.plus.com/Thor/second%20session/bhp.torque.jpg http://www.boostman.plus.com/Thor/second%20session/Torque.AFR.jpg Red line = 0.8 Blue = 1.2 bar As you can see on the 1.2 bar run I lost on the peak bhp/torque but gained in other areas. On the stock boost run I gained everywhere really including peak. Now that was a bit disapointing ofcourse about the 1.2 bar run especially, not what I expected. Had a good chat with Pete about this and he was helpfull as always. As we knew the only thing to change was the O2 sensor was now hanging in mid (fresh) air, he suggested that this could be throwing the fueling out as it appeared to be running rich compared to the previous run. This would fit in with what I'd heard before, and seems to be the only explanation. If this is the case would you expect to see a more profound effect on the higher boost? I'm going to book it in to have the O2 sensor replaced/refitted at the same time as having the 1st CAT replaced, so should be sorted then I hope. It seems that with the UK model having the increased fueling this extra has tipped the balence too much, whereas I guess on a Jap spec it would be of benifit right? Anyone got any other ideas on the matter? Has anyone else had issues with leaving out there UK o2 sensor? Although unless you've seen your AFR's before and after you might not have realised. Thanks for any input
  15. Bear in mind theres two Inchcape Toyota's in Nottingham, I can't comment on the bigger branch on Derby Rd as not used them.
  16. I've seen imports in there on at least 2 occasions, in fact I'm sure the service manager told me they have a regular black Jap one come in which is one that I've seen there. Good luck.
  17. Gota agree that Zymol is good stuff, for a slightly cheaper alternative (still dearer than most but not big money) try the Zymol 'Cleaner Wax' I think its called. Its a blue liquid wax and is still top quality as you'd expect from Zymol. Not a quick wipe on wipe off job though, but very good finish for your hard work. It was recommended to me by a well respected bodyshop/classic restorer. Second one down on this page: http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Zymol_Natural_Autocare_Products.html
  18. I've not had any problems with Inchcape Toyota in West Bridgeford - Nottingham, not all main dealers are rubbish So far I've had them replace my brake discs and pads, diff cooler, 1x rear wheel bearing, serviced the car with my supplied plugs and filter and done the MOT all without anything but good service. Oh and they've just changed my aux belt... charged £12+vat labour for doing that while I waited so can't grumble.
  19. A shiny big pipe off you Gona be next week still yeah? Falls just nice as off work till the 4th of Jan
  20. Yeah they were reading at the Hubs. It says flywheel at the top of the graph but thats as default from the software as a lot of places will stick there calculations (read guesses lol) in. I asked Pete and he explained it, If you look at where it says 'tcf' (Transmission Correction Factor or something like that) it says 1.00 as in 1:1 no correction for flywheel figure, some places will put this to 1.20 for example for a 20% transmission loss to be factored in on the graph. Thor don't do the guessing, its left upto you to do it if u want to have a flywheel estimate. Steve.
  21. Auto m8, and that was with no other mod except boost just for reference.
  22. Good day, shame I missed most of your runs... caught the last one or two. After I got back from the pub lunch (just after you'd left i think) I went on and got 344.7 hp / 354 lb/ft @ 1.2bar. My runs we're stock boost 0.8 bar = 280hp, just under 1.1 bar = 325 ish hp and then the one at 1.2 = 344.7. I was chuffed with that as I still have the standard exhaust and cats in wanted to get it done before they go on so I have a base map (got him to run it at stock boost too). It was hard to know what to expect as most who have upped the boost already have exhaust etc.. but at least I've got baseline and also know what it is at various boost levels No problems with fueling as expected so thats nice too. Steve.
  23. Just so happens I'm booked in Thor on Saturday Theres 3 of us booked in at about 2pm, but I'm gona aim to get there for more like 11.30-12.00 so hoping to catch a few you still doing runs then unless your all done and dusted by then, i dunno. Anyway cya there hopefully.
