Unfortunately it sounds like he's out of touch. It's not easy to insure ANY car for less than £500 when you're under 25. Not unless you lie.

Paul E - If you can find out about fitment and let me know the P&P price, thanks.

What width wheels have you got front and rear SupraWoman? Anyone know if these tyres are ok with these width wheels: 9.0x18" front 245/40/18 10.5x18" rear 275/35/18 ?

Yeah, I'm 24 with Elephant. Works for me. But I'll give Adrian Flux a go when my renewal is due at the end of January. Maybe Admiral too.

No digs at anyone, but as I was discussing paint quantities recently with the guy who sprayed mine... Aston Martin used to be particularly proud of putting 21 coats of paint on their cars back in the day. But apart from being an appaling amount of paint, it was almost necessary because the paints were crap decades ago. New paints don't need many applications - I've had a generous 5 coats of decent Sikkens flat black on mine, but (as Dude will probably confirm) you don't need that much usually. I don't know how much extra goes on with priming and gloss, but I would guess a total of 10 would be a lot... usually. From what I gather, most manufacturers don't put that much on. It's not necessary with modern paints. Ahh well. I'll wait for another comment from Jake.

Will have a look, but I don't want ones that look blue, or have blue plastic. Paul E - can you email me a picture... and do they need a bracket fabricating or are they ready to go? Thanks guys. Oh, but still... wire up as fogs or on with the low beams? Or high beams?
-
Thanks mate. I like the Bomex in black. It needs a good wash and wax at the weekend though. The looks I get. Everybody who catches a look at the car stares/points/nudges the person next to them. Nobody's laughed yet... like I do when I see a Corsa with a bodykit, stupid exhaust and "devil's horns" spoiler or something. I was wondering how long it would be before someone came up and asked me about the car. It was about 5 minutes, when I pulled in to fill up with Optimax. A woman in her 40's got out of her Grand Cherokee and came over to utter some words of admiration. I think I was in there.

You say only the kindest words, as always.

I decided to go with a big spoiler like that cos it's polished (to match the polished wheels going on) and because personally, I prefer it to the stock spoiler. I certainly will post pics when I've got the new "mmmm... tasty good" wheels on. Really looking forward to getting those on and wrapping them in some 245 and 275 Proxes. Yay! It'll be a fun day queuing at Mitcheldever Tyres.

I know you live in Gosport, it says so next to your name. No, not Paddy's place. It's Car Care tucked away down the bottom, so you might want to approach them if your car gets crashed into, then see if they'll do all the other work at the same time.
-
You could say that, they're in Gosport, but they did it as a favour to me... they're not doing any more cos they've got too much regular insurance work on and custom stuff isn't their thing. Shame, cos I trust them and they're good and they sure have the facilities. I got 5 coats of Sikkens black on my car.

What have you got planned for your masterpiece paul? I was going for a black and polished theme. Hence the polished Do-Luck wheels, the custom polished APR spoiler, and I'm going for some polished-looking (reflective mirror style) vinyl up the side. Then we've got some green lighting going on (neons in the footwells and under the car - still need to put those in) and once the ICE/PC/Xbox are done and the Gibson & Boyne stuff is complete... I'll be laughing. I think you should still do whatever you want to do - you'll be way happier when you can drive your own one and everyone's staring at you! Keep the wheels mate.
-
The only size they make mate - 18". 9x18" at the front and 10.5x18" at the back. Looking good. Feeling good.

Well spotted with the number plate - it's at a slight jaunt, yes. I don't notice anymore. Suppose I should do something about it. I doubt most people will show such restraint regarding comments on my spoiler. Thank you

Ok, and the last one. Stuff to still be done: New Do-Luck double-six wheels on order (Thanks Gaz) Carbon fibre bonnet Lights in the Bomex front Needs a de-cat Some vinyl (sorry) Gibson & Boyne goodness Lots more bits

I've had my car in the body shop for a while while a friend has been doing a little work for me on it. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves (I know how you all like pictures) but I'm very pleased with the result. Here's what's been done: All dents/rust removed Aerial removed and welded Stock spoiler removed and holes welded Bomex kit put on (front/sides/spats) Full respray in some new black (was black before) New spoiler put on (most of you will hate it) Exhaust added ...and a service But anyway, here's the pics

Anyone got a Bomex front and put the round lights in those holes? Which lights are supposed to go in there, or which ones fit? The round holes in my Bomex front have little holes drilled ready to locate lights but I don't know what to put in there. Also, anyone know who sells these lights and how much they are? Would you wire them up to come on with the front fogs or the low beams? Thanks!

You can get right-angle LED bulbs for the rear now though. The problem is (at least with the J-spec) that the bulbs has offset bayonet fittings, not opposite ones. The only LED bulbs I can find have opposite fittings. Apparently it does no harm to just remove one of the bayonet pins so just one fits into the offset bulb holder. It should still stay where it is I've been told. Anyone got any experience of this?

I like the idea for users too. Anyone got any Macromedia Flash skills? Wanna put this together?

Wow, the concensus seems positive so far ...and this is one of my most popular and replied-to posts ever! :D

Would anyone with some computer graphics skill, who knows where the traders are like to put together a map of the UK with the traders indicated? It would be handy to see at a glance who is where, like Envy/Miami/Whifbitz etc. I was thinking a simple 2D map of the UK with just some coloured dots or something, but if anyone has some web skills and wants to do a special version then that'd be good. I was thinking of starting it myself and then asking people to contribute, but I don't have time or anywhere to host web pages. What do you think?

That's cool guys, thanks for the pointers. I'll have to see what mine's like on standard suspension when I get it back... let's hope it's as good as Dude's.
