Have you tried giving tesco the reg instead of just the model, mine was 750 for an SZ but when i came to do it it was 480, and all i needed was a cat 1/2 alarm. not bad as i was 23 with 4yrs NCB

Just had excactly the same prob, put a thor converter on, no more prob. takes about half an hour and costs 100 quid, do an ECU reset after though so no fault code will be recorded after you have changed it over.

I think it depends on the age as well cause i got a quote on a 1995 but i bought a late 1994, and they said just a thatcham alarm was good enough but on the 95 i am sure they were on about a tracker. I had to get one fitted to the FTO which is a few insurance groups less but thats 1995. Probably i am talking but might make some sense, nothing else does I think i still have the supra

Na the UK is a dedicated model ie TT, where as the imports are different as you have three models plus manual TT aero etc, im sure its right, they told me what car it was when i did a quote online (tesco) but with this i dont even need a tracker where the SZ i did

Look on your log book if it says the model on it, if not , on my insurance it just says 1994 supra 3ltr, which is really what it is (no turbos etc) so it is right in a way, must admit i am paying less now than what i was for my FTO GR
