  2. I've not seen one where a helmet isn't used... One thing worth noting, the reason the dog leg bolt in cages are not use in racing is because of the extreme conditions. The regulations have very specific guidelines that look at those conditions. Toyota designed a very capable car which already has very good protection built in, which in most cases is sufficient for every-day use. If your worried about just popping down to the shops and need a cage... use Tescos home delivery (couldn't resist - sorry!) You should at least put padding on the cage. It's also something that most people dont consider on a road car! No probs mate. Our cages are MSA standard.FIA cages and other regs (MSA etc) , as mentioned above, have their own guidelines - of which I can't possibly begin to quote Best thing to do is talk to some of the rollcage fabricators. For the ultimate cage you could go for a cro-molly cage - very pretty but very expensive. I think carbon cages are yet to be approved - but I could be wrong.
  3. Hi mate... Unfortunately we couldn't do it in the warm up, thats for team members only. Also I'd use more than £20 in fuel alone ... but something maybe in the pipeline. (you have PM...)
  4. Some maybe, depends on the certification. Daz had problems with the scrutineers last year where by they didn't like one of his helmets because it was a motorcycle one. It all depends on what regulations have to be adhered to. For track day stuff I would think you'll be fine with most decent motorcycle helmets. But if you don't have a motorcycle helmet I'd buy a saloon specific one. If people are in doubt theres a lot of stuff on the regulations and types of testing done on the web. Google stuff like 'snell helmet regulations' and be careful of the US/non-uk stuff - some of its different. Nice helmet by the way ....
  5. ... yeh - probably. Most of the Evo's in pro class have front bumper exit exhausts. .... it certainly gives me an idea ... hotrides in the whifbitz cars
  6. ... but seriously - cages for street cars are show cages, as you wouldn't want to cut the car up like we've done on the whifbitz cars. The cages we have are full weld-in jobs in 45mm tubing that cross the car in the back and the roof. Its also possible to add bars to the cage as and when needed. To do this on a road car would seriously hurt the interior to a level most wouldn't want and makes it pretty much useless for anything other than carrying 2 people. If its a 'street cage' your after then get a nice bolt in chromed one like in Paul's beast ( plug - plug ). These are easier to get into and live with day to day - and they look nice. But what ever one you like, make sure things like head clearance and arms/legs dont get obstructed by the cage. I had to go and basically be fitted for mine (my choice) so as not to impede movement. Also, get some good padding for the area around your head - should the worst happen you need padding to absorb the impact of your head on the cage - the helmet wont do a great deal in absorbing the shock alone. (by padding I mean FIA stuff thats ~£30 for 0.5 metre!) As for helmets - I haven't been to a trackday where they'll let you on without one. Imagine hitting your head on the door glass as hard as possible from the seated position, treble it and thats the kind of impact you'll have. without one. Helmets designed for cars are also different standards to motorcycle helmets as they're designed to take different types of impact.
  7. Thanks mate ... you should try going in one, its even better! The Ollie clark Subaru is awesome for noise levels - the side exit exhaust is on the left, so when thats on the pitwall side its actually painful to be near it as it goes by !
  8. Any cat lover would prefer : Stop, go back and check, find out (if you can) where it lives and try to return it or take it to a vets. In other words, do everything you can to 'help' the situation. You never know - the owner might 'help' with any damage - if they're as understanding about your car ! ( theres a bit of Karma ) No one will persecute you for hitting a cat - cat owners know its a possibility. Now heres the controversial bit - you've got insurance!
  9. Hey guys, excellent weekend, and an excellent turnout by you guys Great to meet a few of you at last, we're all pretty busy a lot of the time so if anyone started talking to us and then got left/ignored its nothing personal.... we'll always try and chat where possible. Ash - you're right , the track was very slippery - all three of us had traction problems but daz just drove the ar5e off the rex anyway! We'll be putting together a kinda-blog to keep people up to date on the whole team which will include comments on the day and the stuff we're doing in between events, so hopefully in a day or two we'll have this up and running
  10. Do you mean that you've only heard bad things about it or that no-ones ever commented. If its the former then you should look at the US forum! I'm not aware of many suppliers of turbos who can justify research in the way PHR can....
  11. £65 ... puts a £5 towards the petrol!
  12. £70 collected and you can have 'em.....
  13. let me guess...I bet that offer has to include postage
  14. Sorry to hear about this mate... The two Whifbitz supras use PHR T61 and T62 turbos, mines been abused for nearly 2 years and Bens has done a few hours so far and we've not had any issues at all. Not trying to big up PHR, but I'm not sure if anyone's had any issues with them elsewhere.
  15. Bump... These are perfect if your not sure about R888's and want to try a set without forking out loads of dosh ... you'll certainly want more afterwards!
  16. Tyres now sold.... wheels still available
  17. .... Tadaaa... That looks perfect for the job
  18. Just had a quick search in 'tinternet and a couple of newer phones may be ok, but it'd probably need someone to donate ... Nokia E60 / E61 Nokia E51 Sony Ericcson W950i / M600i These are muti-media phones without cameras. ... but like I said, if no-one is willing to donate then these look like they'll cost at least £100 to get hold of. HTH...
  19. Got some pairs of part worn R888's for sale : 4 x 255/35/18 - £150/pair - about 4mm left - SOLD 2 x 285/30/18 - £120/pair - about 3mm left Both these are still good for at least 1 whole track day, or a little less if your into drifting
  20. I'm getting these removed from the wheels this weekend, so if anyones interested let me know....
  21. (These are Tein RE - not RA as in the title) Used on my time attack car last year for 3 rounds plus 2 track days. Official Blurb : TEIN Type RE is like the Type RA, but with an added full-length adjustment system. Ride height is adjustable without changing the preload of spring. This is the special feature of the full-length adjustment system due to threads on the lower bracket. The Type RE has a wide range for setting the stroke and length of the shock. It is possible to set up this suspension for various road, weather, or track conditions while maintaining optimal suspension stroke. - Mono-tube design for maximum performance. - Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload. - 16 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together). - Inverted shock structure for more horizontal stability for strut suspension. - Available for overhaul. TEIN Type RA Coilover has been designed for advanced circuit racing and street use for experienced drivers. Tein RA Coilover system incorporates a newly designed mono-tube structure, which allows for maximum road handling and driving stability for all type of situations. Tein RA Coilover product has been developed from a huge background of TEIN motor sports activities (such as the World Rally Championship, N1 and endurance racing). * Mono-tube design for maximum performance. * Constructed of A7050 aluminum for lightweight (on certain applications). * Strut type suspension has an inverted steel shock absorber for durability. * 16 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together). * Ride height adjustable. * Exclusive designed pillow ball upper mount for optimize performance. * Available for overhaul. Looking for £850 shipped. (List price on these is £1200 + VAT)
  22. Was there a specific reason you wanted superstreets? I'll have a set of low mileage Tein RA's up for grabs soon.... but they're more fast road/track orientated.
