The whole idea of selling the advertising space is to raise the £10k it is going to cost to make MAC 1 onto something unique and therefore a crowd puller at shows and something magazines will want to write about. Unfortunately, I honestly can't see me realising that kind of money from selling name spaces. However, should the corporate sponsorship succeed in raising the funds, I would be quite happy selling name space with the money going direct to Macmillan.

He initially came out with some cock and bull excuse that the Barca player backed into him and then, once the replays showed exactly what he had done, he tried to worm his way out of it by saying most people know he is not that type of player!

Selling smaller space would not be a problem but the cost needed to be charged might be. What I mean is that I would have to take into account the cost of producing each message and the cost of putting it onto the car. In order to make a goodly amount of money to go towards the build, I would probably still have to charge a considerable (considerable for the general public I mean) amount of money. Whilst I like the idea, I think I will initially stick to the corporate sponsor route and see how that progresses.

Following on from this thread here, I want to set up a web site introducing MAC 1 to potential sponsors and to show the plan. The problem is, I have very little experience with this type of thing and so I am looking for advice as to what sort of content / pages should be on there. I have come up with the following so far: 1. Details of the sponsorship deal on offer 2. Image of MAC 1 to show sponsors what it will look like 3. List of potential national shows that will be attended 4. Commendation from Macmillan 5. Links to sponsor 6. Links to past events (currently just Austec charity day). 7. Link to small donation site such as BT Donate - Justgiving (not to be used for sponsor deal but for one off smaller donations) 8. My story? 9. Build page showing progress of MAC1? Can you folks think of anything else that should be there?

Following on from the success that we had from the "burn a VS" and Austec charity dyno day, I decided to think about other ways in which I could help Macmillan as a charity and came up with the idea of MAC 1 - a promo car to be used at car shows and events around the country. The idea is to build a fairly unique car to take along to shows and events throughout the country to raise funds for Macmillan and to also raise cancer awareness amongst males. I would love to have been able to use a Supra but trying to make that unique would be very difficult due to the outstanding examples already out there - plus I really didn't have the funds available to buy a decent donor car and so I settled on using the MR2 I had recently bought. Now, in order to make something special I am going to need funding and for that I have to go out there and look for advertising sponsorship for the car and this is where I need your advice. I have already put together a letter pack to send out to companies and would really like your opinion on what the content. If you feel you have the time to read through the package can you please send me a PM with your email address and I will send it through to you.
